1. Brand- Any brand really thats reknowned. (why do so many people hate Acer?) 2.Looking for around 250GB space minimum 3. Minimum 2GB RAM 4. Preferable processer- core 2 duo 5. Looking for a graphics card that can play FIFA 09? (can an ATI Radeon 256mb handle that?) 6. 14-15" screen's fine 7. Budget is 3k
EDIT: Found a beautiful Studio 15 Dell laptop customizable. Just wondering, will an 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 GC be able to play FIFA 09 well?

QUOTE(Angel01 @ Apr 25 2009, 01:29 PM) i assume the HD 4570 is better right? QUOTE: what he mean is for example if u compare ati hd 4570(256mb dedicated) with ati hd 3470(256mb dedicated)..same ram rite?but the number in front usually shows which one is better..given the dedicated ram are the same.. in this case..the 4570 is the winner bcoz better GPU..(4series vs 3series)

Just to ask again, now that the GC question's been answered:Hey guys saw the BenQ R47 on their website, sounds amazing! But unfortunately, they don't have prices. Anyone got info on this one?
I'm finding it particularly annoying finding prices on laptops on HP's, Acers websites, unlike Dells. It's probably because they have retail shops, but Dell's website is just awesome-accesible anywhere, anytime.

Why is 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 Graphics Card on the Studio 16 XPS rated higher than the HD HD4570 GC in the Studio 15? Isn't the 3670 in an earlier series? Will the 3670 be able to play games like Fallout 3, The Last Remnant, COD, Devil May Cry 4? Thanks!

So the quality'd be pretty bad? The Studio XPS 16's already 4k are there any other good laptops with reasonable GC's for this price?

Ahh right. But I'm like looking at options, and I thought that 4k was sufficient to get a higher end card I checked the notebookcheck page, where they rank GC's, and the 3670 is right below 4570..so should I spring for the XPS or the Studio?

I saw a Toshiba Satellite X200-21P when I was searching up on laptops, but I'm not sure whether it's available in Malaysia. The GC for that lappy is GeForce 8600M, which is really quite decent, and will probably be on the higher end of your budget.
Alternatives: XPS Studio 16, BenQ S57, Dell Studio 15. Toshiba's not really reknowned for its laptops but for it's TV's. There are many other reputable brands..

QUOTE(beruang05 @ May 1 2009, 01:45 AM) 15" screen quite big or not for travel ? Yea, currently, the regular screen size is 14.1", which is decent. If you're looking at larger screens, then there are loads of options from HP which even have a 20.1" screen on a laptop.

Looking at suppliers, rarely do they ever use Quadro GC's? Have any of you thought of building your own laptop? Ultimate customization What a dream..

Ahh okay thanks. Just needed some confirmation haha. Before I was into computers, all I knew about was Dell and HP, which I suppose is why they're so successful. Now that I've seen BenQ and Asus, they seem to be underrated. I've been using Inspiron for way too long lol.

G110M is rated as a class 3 GC on notebookcheck but I suppose for that price it's NOT BAD. There is the ASPIRE 4937G-874G32MN. I think I saw a flyer in Sungei Wang selling a similar model for 2,999. The GC on that's way better..

Yep, the Dell Studio is really popular because it's like middle ground between Inspiron and XPS. I'd recommend you get the 9 Cell battery. The 15.6" screen is really attractive too. The graphic card should be decent enough for medium quality games. Review of HD4570: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-ATI-Mobil...70.13885.0.html

Purpose: going to study to new zealand for about 2 years was thinkng dell studio xps 16. hmm but not sure about the warranty? any help? If you're looking for a gaming laptop (I suppose you are, with that budget(, you could spring for the BenQ S57, which has the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650, a really powerful GC. It's currently 3,999.

Not too sure. Dell's whole marketing strategy was about leaving out the retail store- that's how they got their prices so low when laptops first began. Now that other brands have managed to lower their prices, Dell's decided that they're retailing. So there probably won't be much difference. Not too sure about warranty, as I've never had problems with my laptops (strangely enough).

If you're not going to be doing much gaming, you'll probably be investing alot into mobility? You don't really need a powerful graphics card, even the most basic of GC's should be good enough. You could probably look into the Inspiron series, but they're more for the budget-concentrated consumers.

QUOTE(kopiPeng @ May 9 2009, 12:43 PM) 1. Brand: except dell other brand tat is good its ok 2. Budget:1.8k-2.5k 3. Specs:Intel core 2 duo T6400 and above(with the intel centrino technology) RAM:2-4gb -memory 160-250gb -come with webcam -come with DVD -bluetooth and wifi -original windows vista 4.size:thin and light btw,its use for playing minor games, watch drama, surfing web and assignment if possible, pls give me your suggestion with price.. thanks With that price range, Dell Inspiron might be your best bet. It's got everything except the thin and light bit- it's around 2.7kg. It has Intel Core 2 duo, 2GB ram, 250GB hard drive, webcam, dvd drive, vista, wifi, bluetooth. Your only gripe will be the graphics card, one of the lousiest in the market.
