I'm surprised nobody brought this up.

Inserting a Maxis sim card, according to observation made by Harmeet, resulted in the inability to edit or access the wireless network setting and/or APN setting. It just disappears. Inserting other simcard made this window reappear back again, and being able to edit them back again. I guess Maxis went automatic with the 3G setting for their phones.

As long as they dont totally shut out other telco settings, it should be fine. Otherwise, you'd have to follow how the NZer did it when their got their Voda-based iPhones.

ya bro...
i tested it properly
da apn settings appear on da digi card but on maxis da settings r not thr but 3g working fine...smile.gif

i believe that your blackberry bold may still attract a handsome price (so you can consider selling it biggrin.gif ) as Phones and blackberries do not target the same type of audience.

MMm .... I think the APN setting can be enable back by tweaking the carrier bundles? It's been a long time since i godek2 those settings but there are lots of option you can specify in the carrier bundles.

Maxis may be doing that to try and block the previously available unlimited 3G Maxis users using their non-Maxis 3G iPhone from well,.....using their 3G service unlimitedly. This way they can easily track everyone using their 3G service, and:-

A)in the case of the current new subscribers with the iPhone plan, monitor their usage and charge them accordingly to what the data ceiling their plan allows

B)in the case of non-iPhone plan users using their 3G service on non-Maxis iPhone, track their usage pattern, and *gulp* throttle them back? I hope this does not happen, but crazier things had happened before.

Understand that with the official launch, you've just added thousands of new user, adding more strain on the already bucking-over 3G infrastructure/bandwidth, and one of the way to make sure it does not get overloaded is to limite the data ceiling (500MB-3GB as per the iPhone plans), or throttling. If Maxis does enforce the latter, expect a lot of angry subscribers coming back at them, with their supposed "unlimited" service gets the backburner in favor of the new iPhone plan subscribers.

Or they could change the "unlimited" plan to a specified ceiling, and offer "unlimited" to corporate/enterprise customers utilising their 3G simcards with their 3G data modems only.

Just take a look at the huge uproar happening with AT&T during the few months after launch, and users finding themselves locked out of their 3G service because of congestions. You can easily Google about subsribers threatening, and some already filing lawsuit because their subscription to the 3G service is not as advertised.

if the Part Number for the iPhone from Maxis is the same as Singtel, do u think we can claim warranty for the set from Singtel in Maxis? or vice-versa.... in the case without receipt....

Part number might be same but not the serial number. If the serial number is not registered in singtel or maxis system, do u think they will honour the warranty?

Well that is the disadvantage of iValue plan but my family plan (calls to my supp lines) doesn't come up to that much either. My other calls are huge - average RM200 a month so iValue would be good for heavy users.

Question : What if I take the iValue 155 and my local calls are RM55 but my international calls are RM100. Am I charged RM155 or RM155 + International calls. I call overseas a lot!
*
well, i think the call charges covered all calls except roaming, as i understand, that means if we go oversea and make calls, those calls are excluded from the package and maxis will charge us separately. If we make international call from local, i believe it shud cover under the package.

I went to mac shop yesterday and found out they are preparing set up for customer to collect maxis iphone from their store from monday onwards, according to the store assistant, maxis customer can sign up ivalue pan and collect iphones from them, i saw 6 units of iphones displaying in that shop...and they have my dream White iphone...white.... cry.gif

The iPhone craze in Malaysia has been pretty anticlimactic, I would think. What are the odds that Maxis will sell all the phones they've ordered? Anyone who really wanted one and has the financial means already has one. And since they have not made it any cheaper, it still doesn't have very much of a mass appeal.

150,000 units. That is the figure Apple REQUIRES you to take before they sign you up as a recognized telco. Does anyone see Maxis selling off all 150,000 units by June/July, with the current plans? Otherwise, they'd still be offering the "obsolete" iPhone3G when the rest of the world already moved on to the next iteration.

....that's due to the fact that Malaysians have been pampered by that Finnish technology for decades. yawn.gif

Knowing Malaysians... expect Iphone to cook them dinner or something BUT still want to find thousands reason not to spend in this whole new level of technology! Steve Jobs demonstrated how this optimized version of the web tool can be used on the iPhone by finding a nearby coffee shop and placing a call to it by simply tapping the screen. Not impress?

IMO, there's still a lot more value added features available in Iphone than any other smart brand names. It is time for Malaysians to realize that's what you are paying for:-
1)The screen is huge and crystal clear thanks to a 3.5”, 320x480 px display at 160 ppi. That’s a whole lot of pixels and consequently, a whole lot of clarity. 2)Can scroll down through lists with a flick of your finger and the whole things just works brilliantly. It has a built-in accelerometer that tells it whether you are holding it vertically or horizontally and adjusts the screen accordingly.
3)Video can be viewed in wide screen, so you can watch TV shows and films using the whole of the screen. The combination of a phone and Mp3 player (Ipod) that has full iTunes compatibility is a major selling feature.
4)Store a music library on your computer, burn music from CD, equalizing it, transfer photos, videos, game and small applications (when supported by the player) and many other features.
5) Thank god...iPhone has Wi-Fi! thumbup.gif

It is all value added hidden features that you could not find in any brands except Apple itself and its product extensions. Finally, Apple is allowing developers to make programs for the iPhone and Mac Book, they have basically released their code for developing software by jiving in together yet still protect customers' exclusivity without compromising its quality.

I am looking forward to see a lot of neat applications in the future and I have no qualms investing in Apple a little bit more. It is difficult to enjoy apples when you have sour grapes in your mouth and finally

......never again will i be stranded somewhere without a Starbucks. rclxm9.gif

Did the 'agreement' say that 150,000 does not include the next model?

I called Maxis today to enquire about the Penalty fee for iValue plans.

They told me it's :

monthly commitment * remaining months * advance penalty

And I was told that I could only know about the advance penalty only after i suscribe to iValue plans doh.gif

Can anyone confirm with me the exact Penalty charges? For iValue Plans and also Value Plus Plans..
Thanks a lot tongue.gif
