And oh......"One More Thing",

Internal Maxis staff are able to buy the iPhone3G as-is. As in buy outright, without contract whatsoever. Price for this to come by next Monday.

One year. Contract plans does not dictate warranty periods. Contract plans only allows the initial investment in terms of iPhone price to be reduced cheaper to be subsidised by the carrier. It is still unknown if we can use any sort of Apple Care Protection Plan to extend the warranty up to three years.
*
Then price extra 300-400 includes 1 year warranty. How many months warranty from garage sales with the current price?

Apple iPhone Geniuses picks up gals?

are.. you .. serious?  hmm.gif

ha ha. at least it works that way in australia (and also the UK).

by the way (sorry to enlarge the fonts for this, but i do need some attention), has anyone been curious how will the maxis name appear as the telco provider name, at the top left corner? so far it has always been MY MAXIS whilst most of official providers globally, have their name set to fit the "box" nicely for example SingTel, AT & T. even for virgin australia (yes, they sell iPhones as well), they opt for the Optus name instead.

long story about the virgin mobile network here as they basically use the Optus infrastructure by purchasing minutes/data et cetera at a lower price and then revamping them to the consumers.

hence you insert their sim card on a conventional phone, it will appear as virgin. however if you slip that into an iPhone, Optus will emerge instead.

Not in the sleazy sense, but out of necessity. I see the female customers having to approach Apple Store Geniuses out of their need to query certain things. You do have certain unspoken code of conduct while under employment and in uniform, but your acquaintance with customers can go beyond that after work hours. wink.gif

Agreed. In terms of design the Iphone is really "different" from the rest of the phones. There are tons and tons of material written on the pros and cons. But is it wise to spend such an amount of money on the Iphone?

If you are a heavy mobile phone user maybe the packages make sense I believe. But if you are just a normal mobile phone user well it's really a waste of cash. If you do not mind the warranty. Might as well get a unlocked phone somewhere. At least the payment is one off. What do you think?
*
spend the amount of money dictacted by maxis ? no. not worth it. cheaper to buy outside black market somewhere. that one i agree with you 101% to go buy elsewhere unlocked and just go with it. While I have had no problems whatsoever with my black-market-edition 2g since launch until now, i've had friends with horror stories to tell about theirs tongue.gif

is it worth it to blow your savings on such a phone?

well you're right in the sense - if you're just using phone to call/sms.. and that's it, any phone will do really. as long as it don't die on you hehe.

if you're like the type that likes to get connected..? this phone is just amazing. web browsing is the best deal ever. reading rss feeds with newsgator. facebook app is a must for any addicts. games? tons and plenty to keep you amused.. tap tap is really DAMN good and it's free! taking pictures and uploading to your blog? easy as pie. IMing with beejive/palringo and what have you, incredible. Email support? best i've ever seen in any phone yet. the things it takes you to do these things.. to get it done, it amazing, it's fast. it's just like those devices back in the days of Palm 3 and Palm V.. click and it happens. It's not like WM .. click and you see the 4-colour-wheel-o-wait... oh wait i need to close more apps in the task manager.

So yeah.. it really does depend on what you do with your phone.

(but then again with previous generations of phone, doing these things is a PITA... seriously. with this phone it's a joy!)

This is why I still love PalmOS. Apple carries on that legacy. It just works. With Windows Mobile you can just forget it , trust me. Its nothing fancy. All it does it crashes every now and then. As for the web browser, you don't even have a decent web browser for it - Mobile Internet Explorer just sucks and there aren't any good ones

Oh not to mention iPhone runs on *nix , there is always something fresh that people can port from the *nix world to the iPhone world. These are the advantages. If you're just going to call and SMS , I would say a Nokia 3310 is sufficient enough. I carry my bulky HTC P3600 and my iPod Touch. I prefer to use the iPod touch to surf the internet and to chat rather then using my P3600 - even smsing with it is pretty hard !

Yes, but it's you fawning over her, and you needing her than she needing you. Cruel as it is, but I see her having the upperhand in either pursuing this further or letting it stop at the professional level.

Plus, once she knows that you work around hackintoshes, there goes the chance to get her phone number. laugh.gif

I dont think its worth spending so much just for the sake of warranty. Tonnes of people bought the 2G and 3G before this package came out and i hear more success stories than negative one.

I've had one since Oct 07 and its been serving me well smile.gif Just make sure you dont drop it into the bathtub (a friend of mine did that) or drop it flat on its screen. Handle it with care and it will be fine.

Iphone is unique.. I dont think I can go back to a SE or Nokia anymore. It can do loads so if you are the kind that likes tinkering with your phone its worth it.. If u just wanna answer phone call and sms.. then get a cheaper SE or Nokia

Of course they dont spill it out right, these are privileges , not to be abused. My bro and his wife, have yet to use this privilege, and they both still using the iPhones I bought for them from New Zealand. So technically, "two" units here from Maxis. brows.gif
