Booking is only confirmed when the customer receives a Confirmation ID via
SMS and Email. Booking merely indicates an interest to purchase the iPhone 3Gand shall not be construed as a binding agreement for the sale/purchase of theiPhone 3G.
This means that we can FFK after we booked the phone without any penalty or etc?
*
it isn't stated in their website. however, you do need to select the plan before proceed with the booking.

officially-unlocked? perhaps RM2.3-2.4K? just a rough figure. anyway, this thread is strictly for iPhone 3G Maxis telco talk. do make sure we don't get ourselves over-excited and go off-topic. smile.gif

So... How is the crap plan that Maxis is offering? Is it tempting to anyone? If you ask me, it just sucks.

Here in Melbourne, not only did the iPhone launch earlier, but the plan is better too. AUS$70 a month, with AUS$520 worth of calls and 1GB data.

Wow...most sellers on lyn's prices are better than Maxis 6 month plan tongue.gif

But yeah, for those who don't want the headache of going to Singapore for warranty, the 6 month plan is ok IF you fully utilise the stuff they offer.

Saudi Arabia is much cheaper than this, yet they offer it without contract also!

They sell around
2400 for 8GB
2700 for 16GB.

One would think that in Arab countries it will be more expensive since they have oil money...

For those wanting to preregister, the Maxis website is up. Head there now.

http://www.maxis.com.my/iPhone/index.asp

Malaysia is still not listed as "coming soon" country at Apple's website http://www.apple.com/iphone/countries/

The iPhone 3G Maxis launch will be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on March 20th at 7pm. Customers who booked their iPhones via the link posted above are invited to pick up their iPhones at the launch ceremony on that day, time and venue. Walk-in customers are also invited to come, to register, and will be informed when they can collect their iPhones later.

Also got a peek at their internal email regarding launch dates on 20th-22nd. They are recruiting people to come and showcase the iPhone on these dates, and calling them "iPhone3G Buffs". Limited Edition iPhone 3G T-Shirts, and meals are provided.

Latest breaking news! CONFIRMED the Maxis iPhone3G is officially unlocked. Rejoice!

Something just crossed my mind..

It is stated iPhone is under Maxis warranty for ONE year. Let say I sign up for Value Plus Plan for 6 months contract. End of sixth month, terminated the contract and MNP to other Telco while still keeping the phone. Is the still under Maxis warranty?

Hope someone can clarify on this since many are considering the official warranty by Maxis is one of the advantages in terms of getting the phone from Maxis instead of from other third party sources.

Unlike WTS or the ones you buy from Low Yat or from your buddies who 'crack' the phone, the one sold by Maxis is the same deal with Singtel or Vodafone or AT&T.

It a legit model, which also means, it is also able to do security updates.
You can update your phone directly without worrying your phone turning into a brick.

There's warranty from Apple, not some 'shop' or 'friend' warranty.

Maybe I missed out, but where is it written that the Iphone by Maxis is unlocked?
I just completed the booking, fee waived for Maxis post-paid.

Because all Telcos are required by Malaysian law to make sure their phone is not locked. If any Telco sells you a locked phone, you can sue them.

try to call Maxis Customer Service @ 123 from your postpaid line. they now have dedicated option selection for enquiries on iPhone 3G. u need to wait awhile though. but not as long as when you're calling Streamyx CS hotline. smile.gif

I think I'll call Maxis to ask about it smile.gif I get free calls of 333 mins and 500 MB data every month for 24-months contract RM100 monthly commitment? That's pretty good it seems. I've been a customer with Maxis for 10 years so I think it doesn't matter to sign up the contract, lol.

I was wondering how would it affect existing Value50 plan? Let say I have a subline, and calling b/w principal & sub got 40hours freecall. If I switched to this i-Value plan, I will left only 20hours? unsure.gif

I don't really like to go maxis vendor to clarify on things, those staff will always tell you "Go to center(klcc) and check..." Goddamnit!! shakehead.gif

For 6 months contract:
8 GB RM 2540
16 GB RM 2960

If that's the case, might as well you don't sign up for contract and get a Singapore set? biggrin.gif It's still cheaper than getting from Maxis.

i'm planning to opt for that plan too but too bad it can't be combined with Family Plus supp line.

eg. I'm on VP50 + Family Plus 50 (supp line) = RM100 per month

if i subscribed for that plan, total commitment per month will be RM150, including Family Plus 50. the catch is i will not be able to call/SMS my girl for free anymore. there will only be 20% discount on calls made and SMS sent to her will cost 5cents. she can still call me for free for 20 hours and send me 2000 free SMS though.

let's say you have if 2 or any number of Family Plus supp line, calls made to anyone of them will be on 20% discount & 5cents per SMS. but calls/SMS made/sent between them will still be free.

I wanted to call and ask about that because my gf and I are on Family Plus plan too. If that's the case then it's not worth it. What's the point paying RM100, having a 12-month contract while the phone itself isn't very cheap.

The only plus point is the 500MB free data transfer included in the package. You mean if I'm using the iValue plan, my sms to my family plus line is still 2000 sms free?
