it says 7 digit.

Yes, apparently this is a very common issue for the iPhone 3G and it's much more obvious on the white one.

Anyone have issue with the 3G connection on the Maxis set?
I updated my iphone to OS3.0. At first the 3G connection is working fine for few days, then last 3 days i couldn't connection to internet even the "3G" icon appeared on top left of the screen.
Tried to restored few times, but still the same, the icon is there but while try to load some website in the safari but failed with "no connection to internet"...
Anyone encounter the same issue or my set got problem?

I've read alot of the past pages but can't really find what I'm looking for.

I have a Maxis 16GB iPhone 3G set. Also Jailbroken by myself.

1. Is it better to upgrade to the OS3.0 or not? Coz I see some ppl wanting to downgrade back to 2.2.1 as well.

2. Why do some of you say the upgrade CD from Maxis is useless?

3. If don't upgrade via the CD, how else can we upgrade to OS3.0?

4. Since my unit is jailbroken, will there be any problems if I upgrade?
Do I need to do a restore or something. Or will my jailbroken apps be gone, etc.

This is entirely up to your preferences. iPhone OS v3.0 introduces a lot of new features not found on previous revisions. However, you can put it in
such a way that the new revisions taxes your hardware more. 3.0 is still new and bugs are natural. I would expect 3.01 whatever to come out soon,
probably in weeks. You should update, to be honest.

2. Why do some of you say the upgrade CD from Maxis is useless?
The CD is useless because you can get the same update from iTunes 8.2 and you can get it earlier than waiting for the postage to come, around 2
days late. However not many users are as tech savvy or may not know they can get the update from iTunes. So the CD will help them.

3. If don't upgrade via the CD, how else can we upgrade to OS3.0?
iTunes 8.2 and a stable internet connection.

4. Since my unit is jailbroken, will there be any problems if I upgrade?
A lot of JB-utilities has been released in the last few days. You should check it out for any limitations on any of them.

oli sometimes some location no line even u got 3G icon, like solaris, hartamas.
but most of the times i got internet connection.

nothing much complain abt Maxis la, bcoz 95% i can online wif iphone, even i got 1Mbps speed at my apt via internet tethering from iphone to my macbook.
planning chg to i3gs from Maxis in July.
my i3g will sell out

I am waiting for the information too. I was planning to get a new compact camera to supplement my DSLR. But if the price is right, I may skip it and get 3G[S] since my wifey wants an iPhone 3G too.

I had an oversea australian unlocked iphone 3g. Had sign up with maxis but still could not get the 3g logo on my phone. Any idea what is the problem?

assuming it is unlocked by the respective network

try resetting the network settings

settings -> general -> reset -> reset network settings

good. my fren incl me total 3 units i3gs wanted~
i3g still lag bit esp u open msg app, oso other app like bloomberg etc.
no macro oso will coz us cant capture doc to picture.

Have done that but still have the same problem.

i don't know if this has been answered before coz the thread is too long and i don't feel like to search through it. excuse me if i've posted a similar question. so i need to know does iphone support msn messenger or it just allows ichat? and is maxis ivalue1 plan sufficient enough if i it is mainly used for email, browsing news, chatting and downloading mp3?
