Guys, I've some questions hope you don't mind. I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but would appreciate any help.

1. The T&C at the website says this:
"Port-in customers are not eligible to sign up for the iValue Plans with a 24 month contract."
- May I know what does it mean by 'port-in'?

2. Let's say I have a family member who is a current Maxis postpaid subscriber and his/her phone bill every month is already about RM300/mth,
- Does it mean it's really worth it to get the iPhone especially with the iValue 3 and iValue 4 packages?

3. On the website it says "Booking period ends 17th March".
- Does it mean after 17th March we can't get the phone at the deal already?

Thanks! blush.gif

1. Port in means you MNP from other telco to Maxis while maintaining your existing number.

2. Personally i think it's worth since you already paying RM300 month. So why not get an iPhone which is offered at a much lower price smile.gif

3. I guess this is for online booking where the phones are available on 20th March. After booking period, you definitely can walk in to Maxis centre to sign up and get one with the same plan...unless Maxis review the plan ;-p

Thanks neekun, now I get it.

Guys not sure if this has been mentioned before.
The Rate Plan Terms & Conditions, item 6 says:

Maxis reserves the right to rescind any of the privileges of the rate plan where the registered line is not used with the purchased iPhone 3G.

So if my family member gives me the iphone, he/she cannot enjoy the rate plan privileges if they don't use the phone?
I'm worried about this. But how would they know? Via network registration settings?

guys, so since the maxis iPhone is officially unlocked, so basically i can get my brother who is a maxis postpaid user to subscribe to the iValue contract and then i am the one who uses the iPhone, right? as i am a hotlink user and i do not wish to change to postpaid (yet)..

Now wait a minute, hold your horses. Can you please check properly or confirm with Maxis first?
I have brought this up in a previous page but nobody seemed to bother.

In the Rate Plan Terms & Conditions, take a look at item no. 6:

jind86, won't that mean if you get your brother to subscribe to the plan and give you the iPhone, he won't be able to use any of the calls and data usage?

I also asked if Maxis can check such things by means of the network settings.
Hope someone can confirm. ohmy.gif

no worries bro.
I was merely pointing out that 6th clause because many ppl may not be aware of it, even myself previously.

I am in somewhat the same situation as jind86 - would like to get the iPhone by means of a family member signing up to the plan. But after seeing this clause, I hesitated till now.

Afraid that my family member wont be able to enjoy the plan's privileges. That may actually burden them. sad.gif

If someone can kindly confirm, that'd be great.

Guys, can someone confirm please.
I've asked this before, but no one responded yet.

Can we use the iValue Plan features (airtime minutes & data) on non-iPhone phones, like Nokia, etc?

Or must they really only tie to the iPhone unit itself.

Thanks guys, that's just what I needed to hear.
Was worried because I asked twice nobody can answer. And their damn T&C says otherwise...

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.
Guys when you get the iPhone from Maxis:

1. Does it come with the SIM eject tool included?
2. Do we need to charge the iPhone unit for 8hrs the first time?

Hi, just got an iPhone from Maxis.
Kinda confused what to do, hope someone can help. sweat.gif

1. Do I need to charge the iPhone for 8hours the first time (like what most ppl tell us to do when we buy new phone)?
Sorry if this has been asked before. But some ppl told me yes, some told me no. So I'm really confused. rclxub.gif

2. How come during phone calls or when checking voice mail, the iPhone screen turns blank?
And I can't really do anything to make the screen appear back.
I need to wait for some time and press the sleep/wake button, then only the screen reappears. But by that time my call already ended.

Is this a setting somewhere or is it a defect?

Thanks for any help guys.

Thanks stutzedward.
May I ask, how to turn the screen back on manually?
For instance, when I need to key-in some numbers like calling voicemail, or call-centers.

@shumaky:
went to Machines last week and they were having this promo if you're getting iPhone 3G from them:

1. Free RM20 accessories voucher
2. Free training workshop
3. Free membership

however, certain model such as the 16GB White might depends on the store's stock availability. if they don't have the stock, you might have to come the next day or few hours later to get it. smile.gif
@jason111785:
did you got yours from Maxis? i think it's better to bring to whole box package for peace of mind. they might need to verify your purchase based on IMEI number on the box/phone. smile.gif

Mind if I ask, how much is Machines selling for the 8gb and 16gb iPhone?

i've imported all the contacts from my simcard, when i call out, it will show the contact name, but if somebody call in, it showing their number only instead of their name.. i double check already, that person is in my contact list with the correct number..

what's the problem?

Guys I have some questions hope you can help.
I've read alot of the past pages but can't really find what I'm looking for.

I have a Maxis 16GB iPhone 3G set. Also Jailbroken by myself.

1. Is it better to upgrade to the OS3.0 or not? Coz I see some ppl wanting to downgrade back to 2.2.1 as well.

2. Why do some of you say the upgrade CD from Maxis is useless?

3. If don't upgrade via the CD, how else can we upgrade to OS3.0?

4. Since my unit is jailbroken, will there be any problems if I upgrade?
Do I need to do a restore or something. Or will my jailbroken apps be gone, etc.

Thanks alot for your help.
