No prob. At first I was scared that the previous owner wont be around. Thankfully she was willing enough to help me out. Some sellers dun even bother bout you after you bought their sets. Yes get a new one at all cause, unless you have responsible dealers like xfree or chinamobile (sg sets of course) to help you claim warranty. Buying it off from non-dealers is a risk but hey it ends up to be our decision.

There actually is a Maxis Prepaid iPhone plan. You don't need to buy a Hotlink simcard if you're already using Hotlink. They also give 500MB/month data usage for 12 months.

yupp, check it out here: http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/iphone/rateplan3.asp#rate

but personally i'd wait another month till the keynote for an updated iPhone smile.gif

wowow!! this is seriously some good news for the people hanging on the 2G, its time for you guys to change! brows.gif

but from another POV, maxis is desperate to dump stocks to fulfill their commitment to Apple, and there might be some even further extreme measures taken by maxis (this is speculative)

so guys, anyone of you wants the 3G or the upcoming iPon?? brows.gif

As for the trade in, there's a small catch.

Trade in only valid from 28thMay till 18th June

1) It depends on the condition of your iPhone and how old is the phone.
2) They require all items as per the Original box set (USB, Dock etc)

APR, MEP and Maxis Centre will validate the condition of your iPhone and they will proceed to trade in with a certain amount.

To trade in and get a 8GB 3G iPhone, you need to pay either

RM770 - device and headset only
RM 820 - no box but allUSB cable, dock etc available
RM 870 - Complete Set

To trade in and get a 16GB 3G iPhone, you need to pay either

RM950 - device and headset only
RM1000 - no box but all USB cable, dock etc available
Rm1050 - Complete Set

You don't have to singup a contract. Is optional.

Hahahaha ... a very desperate attempt by maxis to unload its stock. Next time maxis ... get on the bandwagon early when its still hot, not when the product already reaching the End Of Life cycle.

IMO, this offer is quite attractive for those who want to let go their 2G version and get 3G version. I'm still confuse with the payments though.

Guess what..they gave me wrong info. Darn..

The latest updated they gave is ... You need to sign up a contract. doh.gif doh.gif

So the break down is this:

Your trade in price of your 2G iPhone regardless if you plan to get a 3G 8G or 16GB will be :-

1) RM 390 if you have everything (Full Box)
2) RM 340 if you don't have the box but you have all the USB, Dock etc
3) RM 290 if you only have the device and headset.

So if you sign up a 1 year plan which is RM 1910, with the trade in price of your phone for only RM 390, your full payment will be RM1580.

Can someone call Maxis centre to confirm this as i have made 3 calls to them.

RM400 for trade in plus I've to sign up for plan? This is crazy!

Added on May 29, 2009, 8:18 pmThe RM700-800 range trade in price was too good to be true though, wow.

Added on May 29, 2009, 8:19 pmThen what's with the rebate for up to RM1050 as advertised? Just to lure in people to see? Maxis oh Maxis, if you really wants to clear your remaining stocks then please make it more affordable and attractive. Trust me there's more will buy it than with plans.

I was like one moment hoping in joy then out of sudden crying in the corner, can't they make things simple enough. WWDC '09 is getting near and they got thousands of units more to be sold, they think they got all year?

I'm sure they want at least a working unit regardless of the wear & tear on it. RM400+ for trade in is really a rip off. wink.gif

Actually this strategy is near close to clearing off remaining stocks, but Maxis always wouldn't want to make things simple for customers.

Added on May 29, 2009, 10:14 pmIf Maxis couldn't sell off the remaining 150,000 in time, I guess Apple will be considering to push their new models late to Maxis because Maxis does not lift up to it's reputation to sell the iPhones.

serves Maxis right then, they want to find new suckers when every other telco (overseas) are lowering the iphone 3G price and some even giving it away for free, they are not doing themselves a huge favor and shooting it's own foot. *ouch*
