QUOTE(ahblu3 @ Mar 11 2009, 02:21 AM) No heat issue for me, fan running at 2k rpm on normal use. Never remove battery and just run purely on AC power. Laptop is different from desktop. The Battery do act as a buffer in case AC voltage spike or else. CPU performance will be regulated and not performing at optimize output when Battery is removed. Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2332If you really think removing battery is good when connecting AC power, then why did Apple engineers spend so much time scratching their head on designing the new 17inch MBP non-removable battery? What the good advice? Let say my MacBook battery is FULL and I put MagSafe into it. Does this affected my battery cycle? If I take out the battery, my battery life span is much more longer and the cycle will reduce!

Let's say it one more time, removing the battery from your macbook is a bad idea.

QUOTE(pmsoo @ Mar 11 2009, 03:41 PM) SMC fan control? It doesn't help to make your fan faster. It just allow you to control the speed of your fan. how to control? [quote=cRazYee,Mar 19 2009, 02:07 AM] how to control? Under preference, u can define the minimum speed. Macbook Alu only can change Exhaust fan. I Think MBP got left and right fan option At least the previous version does.

Can I just use the SMC just to monitor the fan speed instead of making the change on the fan speed? I would like to leave the settings to original. Is it possible? Thanks.

I used my during winter, heavy load also reach 60 degree or more. It's just a fan, unless you use fan use for server room or liquid cooling, else no way to bring it down so easy. But it's a lappie, no way to do it

i use Fan Control 1.2 to change the rate at which the fan speed ramps up instead of just fixing the minimum fan speed with smcFanControl.

i think if the standard operation is already high, that means the macbook could accomodate with the temp lah..no need to increase the fan speed anymore, coz the fan have its lifecycle, means the faster it goes the faster it will die, isn't it?
