Mine's neither an MB nor an MBP, but I'd just chip in on what I use for monitoring...

I guess there is no way to check which is more accurate. Judging from several reported average temperature, I think for normal internet browsing, the temperature should be ranging around 50 ~ 60 degC.
I use iStat btw...

hey bro. i have this problem too. but mine gets hot without gaming. it gets hot faster when gaming, but with normal mac usage, it gets pretty hot on the left speaker. will a laptop fan help? or a table fan, blowing downwards towards the keyboard?

technically, the term "hot" can be perceived differently by different people.. download one of the temperature application and state down yours here..

and yes one of those cooling stands should help =)

im getting around the same range as yours, 55c - 65c on normal usage and my room is a little warm.. that's contribute to the temp also.

cooling pads? got picture bro. not so sure what are those. the thing is my mbp not using any laptop cooler fan. just elevated by this item called the 'space station'. this one that i am using records the CPU temperature of 60 - 67 degrees.
ok i have 2mbp. one that i use constantly and another that i barely use. the one that i barely use never have this heat issue. on for an hour the temp still low. but this one on for . . 30mins, its at 60+ degrees d. both are from the same gen and have the same spec.

so is it a defect or me being paranoid. haha tongue.gif
