The New York Times is reporting that Google plans to update its free search app for the iPhone as early as today.
Google has pushed its latest update to the AppStore and once Apple approves it users will be able to search for anything by simply talking into the handset. You could say "where in the world is China?" and the software would create a file of your voice, send it to Google's servers which determine what was said and then fire the result back seconds later. Microsoft and Yahoo both offer similar services on competing devices. The service is particularly handy when you are in the car and typing in search queries is challenging and dangerous whilst driving.
Rumor: iPhone 2.2 firmware on November 21
QUOTE
Reports are coming in that the iPhone’s next major firmware update, 2.2 is scheduled to launch November 21, 2008. This is the next major update to the iPhone since 2.1 released September 12 of this year. Apple has been showing off some of its new features in Beta 1 and Beta 2, where user requests were filled, with a lot of Google additions to the software.
This update comes loaded with some additional features to the iPhone (3G) such as, a new look for Safari’s Google search bar, a toggle button to enable or disable Auto-correct keyboard, Google Street View, Google Transit information, with walking directions included. The App Store is getting an update as well with icons added to the categories, with a couple of new buttons like “Tell A Friend” and a "Report A Problem" button. Still no word on the requested "Copy and paste" feature.
The firmware update will be available on iTunes via the "Update" button built into the software. This update will be available for the iPhone, and the iPhone 3G, and the iPod Touch.
I see what you guys mean by annoying. Same questions over and over again eh...
Well not all users read all the iphone threads in the iphone section here so sometimes couldn't blame them as well. Just point them to the right thread.

True but still. It is a sticky after all. I wonder how all the info in here is going to evolve to next though. It's still a bit hard to search for certain things. LOL at your avatar mangoman.. ouch

Btw, fieldrunners developer has submitted updated version (1.1) to apple a few days ago, hope apple will approve it quickly, I am waiting for the updates!
Ok, this is not exactly a problem but i need to if anyone knows where can i get anti-glare, matt type screen protector besides the Garage Sales here? And yes, I've checked with a seller who is previously selling it but he doesn't have stock anymore. I am looking to purchase this at a shop or something so does anyone know?
zc_squash : You can find the anti glare matte version at Machines (Midvalley, Ikano, KLCC, etc) or Epicentre (Pavilion). It should cost around RM30-50 depending on which brand. Don't buy the cheapest They suck.
* If you own a first generation (2G iPhone), no matter what you do now, you don’t have to worry, the next PwnageTool will get you where you want even if it you prematurely updated. 2G is completely pwned at every conceivable level and you’ll always be OK. But if you own a 3G iPhone and are looking for unlock in the near future, don’t use Apple’s update yet! * If your 3G iPhone is on a regular contract and you always plan to be with the carrier then you can update but you will lose the jailbreak and access to third party (non AppStore) applications. * If your 3G iPhone is not on a regular contract and you plan to use it on an alternative network to the carrier that supplied it then do not update unless you do it with the impending PwnageTool update. * PwnageTool v2.0.1 does not work with version 2.0.1 of the iPhone or iPod update from Apple. * We will release an update to PwnageTool when the testing has been completed and all applied changes have been checked for safety.
those who plan 2 continue using Cydia or winterboard, stay off 2.2...
Their warning is more to 3G software unlock, not jailbreaking. As the DEV team said, 2G iPhone is Pwnable in every state. This does not apply to 3G iPhone ... yet.
