- allows you to easily transfer files between your iPhone and any other iPhone or computer via a Wifi network. You can set a password to protect your private files and only share public volume to your friends.

The app is quit simple to use, by launching Discover it will find your friends iPhone’s wifi network, and after authorizing your connection request you can browse his/her iPhone content, select the content and swap it onto your iPhone.

iPhonehellas.gr recently posted on their site that a very reliable source, which they cannot name, has told them that the new iPhone firmware 2.2 will be released to the general public on November 21.

The new release doesn't have all the features we have been looking for but any step forward is a step in the right direction.  According to iPhonehellas these are the features that will be included with the release:

    * Google has its own bar in Safari
    * Auto-correction toggle switch
    * 461 Japanese emoji icons
    * New languages
    * The Line-in audio is activated and can be used through the headphone jack
    * Google Streetview
    * Walking directions
    * Google Transit information - for public transit
    * Tell a friend/Report a problem buttons now in App Store
    * App Store sector Categories now shows icons
    * Added possibility of scoring app when deleted
    * Direct download of podcasts

The New York Times is reporting that Google plans to update its free search app for the iPhone as early as today.

Google has pushed its latest update to the AppStore and once Apple approves it users will be able to search for anything by simply talking into the handset. You could say "where in the world is China?" and the software would create a file of your voice, send it to Google's servers which determine what was said and then fire the result back seconds later.
Microsoft and Yahoo both offer similar services on competing devices. The service is particularly handy when you are in the car and typing in search queries is challenging and dangerous whilst driving.

Reports are coming in that the iPhone’s next major firmware update, 2.2 is scheduled to launch November 21, 2008. This is the next major update to the iPhone since 2.1 released September 12 of this year. Apple has been showing off some of its new features in Beta 1 and Beta 2, where user requests were filled, with a lot of Google additions to the software.

This update comes loaded with some additional features to the iPhone (3G) such as, a new look for Safari’s Google search bar, a toggle button to enable or disable Auto-correct keyboard, Google Street View, Google Transit information, with walking directions included. The App Store is getting an update as well with icons added to the categories, with a couple of new buttons like “Tell A Friend” and a "Report A Problem" button. Still no word on the requested "Copy and paste" feature.

The firmware update will be available on iTunes via the "Update" button built into the software. This update will be available for the iPhone, and the iPhone 3G, and the iPod Touch.

The google map is really cool.

dev team warns not to update the 2.2 fw yet, as it will cause 3rd party installment to be almost immposible.

Again, a clarification in layman’s terms :-

    * If you own a first generation (2G iPhone), no matter what you do now, you don’t have to worry, the next PwnageTool will get you where you want even if it you prematurely updated. 2G is completely pwned at every conceivable level and you’ll always be OK.  But if you own a 3G iPhone and are looking for unlock in the near future, don’t use Apple’s update yet!
    * If your 3G iPhone is on a regular contract and you always plan to be with the carrier then you can update but you will lose the jailbreak and access to third party (non AppStore) applications.
    * If your 3G iPhone is not on a regular contract and you plan to use it on an alternative network to the carrier that supplied it then do not update unless you do it with the impending PwnageTool update.
    * PwnageTool v2.0.1 does not work with version 2.0.1 of the iPhone or iPod update from Apple.
    * We will release an update to PwnageTool when the testing has been completed and all applied changes have been checked for safety.

This ability we now have to spawn background tasks means we are one step closer to the 3G soft unlock.  We have a clear path to follow, and “all” that remains is the implementation.

A quick summary of the key 3G-unlock-related achievements we’ve made so far:

Unsigned code execution on 3G baseband
Reverting 01.45 baseband to previous versions
Patching of static text (the AT&V demo)
Injection of AT routines (the task list demo)
Injection of background tasks (this demo)
Now it’s on to overriding the baseband code that enforces the carrier lock.

has anybody downloaded the offline map using fw2.2? i've done so.. but crash~ 

TMnut's Sleepyx has been really acting up these past 2 days. My connection has been up and down and up and down.

the offline map works fine for me! finally able to use it without crash
