Need some help!

iPhone Generation : 2G
Current Firmware : 2.1
iTunes Version : 8.0.1
Computer Platform : Vista
Jailbreaking software : QuickPWN
Problem Encountered : No Service

Steps Had Taken (list down) : It's my friend's iPhone which he bought from U.S. The Problem of No Service of this 2G iPhone first started after the iPhone fall from the chair while it was in his pocket. At that time the Firmware was 1.02. After that fall, the iPhone had very bad reception of signal (only 1 bar), then after a few days it only says No Service. I thought by updating the firmware to 2.1 (Update button in iTunes) would help but after updating to 2.1 (then Unlock & Jailbreak using iClarified method), the No Service is still there. I have tried 2 sim cards and I still get the same problem. For now, I guess its not the sim card as when I insert that same sim card to another phone, the signal strengh is full and I can make and receive calls. I can only assume that probably it's hardware related but thinking it was just a small fall, it shouldn't of have damage the iPhone.

Can you check the phone under Settings/General/About and look for IMEI. Is there IMEI any number? Yes or No? Don't type the number. Just yes or no will do.

oh you might be right to ask that question, i didn't see the 1.0.2 fw word as i thought it was 1.2

try to do a battery "reset"


drain the battery completely (until the icon prompting you to recharge pops up). charge it completely and once completed, turn it off and leave the unit overnight (perhaps 8 hours?)

yeah I tried that on iPod touch before,

its one of the great app for you to view documents files offline

its very convenient to transfer files simply using bonjour

you can also transfer files between iPhones too !

in addition, its kinda stable as it does not hang and lags much

a great app to be on every iPhone/iPod touch =)

comparing to my iPhone, the About section not much difference except of the info detailed to that iPhone.

guys any solution on how to get contacts from se k800i to iphone other than SIM Card ? becoz my contacts more than 500 wor...

I think, i just post last time.. i got 800 contact last time.. this how to..

1. Download Sony Ericsson PC Suite...... Sync the contact to Windows Contact..

2. Then sync using itunes... dont forget check in ur info tab in itunes.. tick contact..

Btw 1 advice to u guys, dun use Kate and Categories, it really stuffs up ur iphone. I have no choice but to use Categories coz i have too many apps. And also dun install Kate and Five Dock Icons at the same time coz it wont have any effect on the Five Dock Icons.

iPhone firmware update 2.2 in 10 days?

iPhoneHellas.gr claims that the iPhone 2.2 firmware will become available on November 21st based on what they describe as a "reliable" source. Meanwhile, Gizmodo also describes the iPhoneHellas site as "reliable" but we at MacRumors have had very little experience with the site.

iPhoneHellas.gr also recaps the new features that have been found to be in the early 2.2 iPhone betas:
- New look for the Safari with the Google search bar now occupying its own space on the title bar
- Toggle On / Off to disable the auto-correction
- 461 Japanese emoji icons
- Support for new languages.
- Line-in audio is activated and can be used through the headphone jack
- Google Street View, Google Transit information - Routes public transport, Walking directions, Location sharing.
- App Store: 'Categories' now shows the icons of the applications instead of the list, In each page of the application has been added by a button 'Tell A Friend' & 'Report A Problem', Added the possibility of scoring the application when the user chooses to delete from the device.
- Added the possibility for direct downloading of podcasts from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store.

Will we possibly see a cut and paste feature in this version? One can only hope. Such a large addition is very unlikely in only 10 days. We are going to be spending a lot of time testing out the new iPhone firmware 2.2 , with all the new additions, this release will keep us busy for a while.
