so far i can say not bad
but again of coz copy the tech of iphone tongue.gif
will not know till i can play it in my hand

The Batman phone? Hehe... gotta admit. It looks like it's going to be a pretty neat phone. I'm not very confident Nokia is going to top the iPhone's user interface though. I never really liked the Symbian platform...

zc_squash : You can find the anti glare matte version at Machines (Midvalley, Ikano, KLCC, etc) or Epicentre (Pavilion). It should cost around RM30-50 depending on which brand. Don't buy the cheapest wink.gif They suck.

@wilsoncvt

Thanks mate. Are you using one yourself?

I bought and tried the matte version. Works great against fingerprints but I opted for the clear type instead because I'm anal about keeping the screen as close as it originally is. tongue.gif If you are in the PJ area, go and purchase from Machines Ikano. I found that the prices are lower there and you can actually ask for a discount. Get the number online and call before going though because they run out of stock sometimes.

Hi Sifus,

I am using official unlocked iPhone 3G, 16GB white. Just got 2 questions;

1. Does the phone download data using Wifi when it's turned on or does it still use 3G/EDGE? I am asking this because my maxis bill for Data has suddenly increased after using iPhone to RM400+!! Been playing a lot with the phone but most of the time I connect to Wifi.

2. I had one experience when the phone just suddenly blackout and unable to turn on. Not sure if it's due to the 'Over Heating' of the phone or any other reasons. The phone came back on again after about 3-4 hours by itself. Weird!

Anyway, on the whole, I reckon the iPhone ROCKS!! simple & uncomplicated..

Cheers!!

1. Data can be downloaded either through Wi-Fi, 3G or EDGE. The bill increase is due to EDGE usage. The solution for this problem has been solved in the existing threads here. You can do a search for "data charges" or look in here for more information. In a nutshell, you have to install a third party app called Boss Prefs which enables you to turn on EDGE when not in use.

2. This should be a software problem. Make sure you have the latest iTunes installed. Do a fresh restore on your iPhone. After that upgrade your iPhone's firmware to FW2.1. It should solve the blackouts.

OT a little.
bloody hell, don't this mardi gras in one utama is for real or not. i can even hear the DJ spinning his/her stuff right from my room across the LDP. does majority of the people actually club on a weekday?
reminds me of scarlet (unsure about the spelling though) in cineleisure; the music coming out of the place is excruciatingly loud, but there is no one inside (well may be one or two blokes preying on gals to come in)!
*
Disappointing night out eh? Scarlet was hot when it first opened. Lots of chicks and the place was always packed. Kinda floppish now. Mardi Gras is just shite... Why a Tuesday bro? tongue.gif

It's a known problem in FW2.1. Nothing we can do about it for now until Apple fixes it in hopefully FW2.2

Added on November 18, 2008, 2:54 amThnx davidgary73 for the update. All 3 are neat games for free too! Just tried them all out. Mastermind brings out the childhood memories haha... but I gotta say Fingeric is a real innovative game. Unfortunately my fingers feel out of place now.

As you guys probably already know, Google Maps Street View is going to be included in the upcoming FW2.2. My friend and I were just comparing the GPS capabilities of my iPhone and his Nokia N96. Of course his map is very impressive with the Nokia Maps software but I drew out my trump card and showed him what my phone can do. brows.gif

Of course, the bad news is Malaysia's Street View will be quite a long time off from now unfortunately. When Google are you going to send your Street View Car to our country??

...oh and if you're wondering... I totally pwned my friend's N96 right there and then with Street View laugh.gif

Can't wait for Flash to come on board. A lot of websites use flash these days so Internet browsing on the iPhone is not 100% there yet.

Oh stringfellow that looks fantastic. Any improvements on the sms lag?

I'm holding off FW2.2 for now because the feature set won't be something significantly beneficial for me now. But hey I just might.. hmm

That's taken and cropped from the software update page on Apple. Those New Yorkers are a lucky bunch eh. They even have departure times for public transport. I wonder if the information is updated real-time by the transport operators. Like you know, "The Train is here!" tongue.gif

Added on November 21, 2008, 5:44 pmBlackberry's new phone called Blackberry Storm is not an iPhone killer but it has an interesting feature that i wouldn't mind seeing in the next gen of iPhones:

QUOTE
RIM says it goes a step further, with what it calls the "world's first 'clickable' touch screen" -- Storm's screen compresses when tapped and offers tactile feedback to mimic the feeling of a real keyboard.

I'm guessing some sort of flex-display like what was mentioned in a recent Apple iPod Stick rumor.

wannna know the "maps" app in iphone

after the map is viewed, is it stored in the iphone and in the future i can view that particular area without having the need to use 3g to download it?? or the maps view are all in the cache and deleted upon exit?
*
Once you jb, you can use a third party app called MapsOffline that will load map files (prepared by you) into the cache. There is a thread here somewhere that details it. Look up davidgary's iPhone for Dummies sticky and refer to item #24. Without that app though (if you don't wish to jb) yes, iPhone Maps will store cache for a particular area which won't be deleted upon exiting. However the cache saved is pretty much limited to just the map area shown on screen before you exit and not all that you have previously browsed.

Yea Adobe is prepared to develop Flash but Jobs says it is not meant for our platform because Flash is too resource hungry. I read that they will be looking into developing a stripped down version of sorts. Won't be anytime soon. There are currently a few 3rd party developers working on enabling flash videos on the iPhone though but even this is still in the early stages.
