Softmod zhen^wei. I think RivaTuner can increase its voltage. Volterra is the only one that makes digital PWMs anyway. Last time they showed that it needs 0.06 volts. Which results an increase from 970 MHz to 1 GHz.

I doubt the person who does the OCing matters. This isn't CPU overclocking. Anyway, 1 GHz requires a voltage mod(see what HardOCP did, they used the ASUS tool to increase voltage) or you got a gem chip. Now for someone to give us that asus bios and the program as well.

so is it the same with any other reference 4890? coz I remember I've tried to increase the voltage in in 4870 bios using RBE, but the default voltage was already at its limit. so will all the reference 4890 have more voltage headroom like most nvidia GC?

Well Sapphire already listed HD4890 1GB in their HD4800 drivers list but the driver is not available for time being. Guess maybe in one week time it'll be available..

Hmmm, should I get a 4890 to crossfire 4870? I know it will downgrade 4890 but the price difference is so little. 4890 Might be cooler too.

yah speaking of seriously underutilizing your psu, afaik your single rail psu can support quad crossfire and sli bro... gto87 is right, just sell off your 4870 and get a 4890. then get another one for CF

Bleh, I'd prefer adding another 4890 and put it as the first GPU before crossfire with my existing 4870. It's not like a huge boost selling my 4870 and buy 4890. 4890 is only 10% more performance comparing it to 4870.

YUpe it's perfectly normal for the card because the fan speed never goes above 32%. I also asked about the same problem before, You can refer to my previous post few pages back.

Hurm. Ok now, boosting your performance is one thing and getting it done w/out spending a lot of money is another thing.
Since 4870's price is dropping (and will drop again in future), I think it's better to sell off your GC now rather than later.

Anyway, I think 4890's price will drop again because Nvidia launched a better card at the same price.
