You can already see the performance boost with 4870 1GB from 3870. I wonder how much more you can get with 4890. hehe

Hmmm, should I get a 4890 to crossfire 4870? I know it will downgrade 4890 but the price difference is so little. 4890 Might be cooler too.

QUOTE(metsatsu @ Apr 3 2009, 11:39 PM) yah speaking of seriously underutilizing your psu, afaik your single rail psu can support quad crossfire and sli bro... gto87 is right, just sell off your 4870 and get a 4890. then get another one for CF Bleh, I'd prefer adding another 4890 and put it as the first GPU before crossfire with my existing 4870. It's not like a huge boost selling my 4870 and buy 4890. 4890 is only 10% more performance comparing it to 4870. |

4890 is not in 9800 price range. Of course it is better than 9800 series. You should be comparing that with GTX 260 or higher. As for 9800GTX+ 1GB, you should be comparing it with HD 4850 1GB.

More than RM800+, there are many sellers that undercuts each other. Check it out here:

QUOTE(gto87 @ Apr 10 2009, 12:23 PM) This is the result I get before and after OCing the 4890 card and it's stable to. Bear in mind I'm not using the new CCC (means no new driver installed) cause later today I gonna be joining the Cyberfusion LAN Party and I don't want anything to go wrong at the very last moment. I don't see P10923 as low but you are on Corei7 with x58 chipset. I got P10116 on mine but I didn't overclock the GPU.P/s: I think I can do better OCing but there's no enough time and still doing research about how to tweak the voltage EDIT: I'm not overclocking the proc yet, hence why the score is kinda low IMO. Just OCed my processor to 3.2Ghz and getting P14166 for 3dmarkvantage. Crossfired 4890 1GB with 4870 1GB. Old score with no overclock is 12693. I think my processor or P45 can't handle 4870 crossfire. 8x lanes are slow.
QUOTE(aichiban @ Apr 10 2009, 06:38 PM) everything on default Your score is really low for Corei7 with x58 chipset.nothing changed driver is catalyst 9.4 but my 3DmarkVantage score is lower than 9000 opinion please This post has been edited by TristanX: Apr 11 2009, 01:07 PM |

QUOTE(aichiban @ Apr 11 2009, 01:16 PM) Try checking your hardware connections. Then reinstall drivers and defrag your hard disk. There is definitely something wrong there cause I have P10258 (9970 GPU) score with my Q9450@2.66Ghz using Asus EAH4890 1GB DDR5 on Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard. This post has been edited by TristanX: Apr 11 2009, 01:57 PM |

For Crysis 1.0, it's 29 FPS at 2.66Ghz, 32FPS for 3.2Ghz at very high settings for 1680x1050 resolution. Didn't see the FPS on other games but some games shows huge improvements.

I have no idea. bahlol could try installing the cards again. Maybe his mobo's PCI-e slot is sensitive. I've encountered this before on some motherboards.
