9800GX2 cannot beat GTX285...even that game is SLI also cannot beat it.
9800GX2 on SLI game the perforamnce is win GTX260 or Par in some games.

If the games no support SLI 9800GX2 terus drop become single 8800GTS G92....that far far more cannot beat GTX285 /GTX260

Hey need some input on some questions.

I'll be upgrading to 24" soon but which GC would be suited for the job? Games played will be Team Fortress 2, Left4Dead and newer gen games.

I'm currently on Gigabyte 8800GT. Should I stick to this GC and wait till the newer GPU comes out? Or Get a GTX275?

I guess my budget will be around 1k atm.

Hi guys, I have a question and hope some light can be shed on this:

Q: Is it normal for cutscenes or intro scenes in games to stutter (i.e. doesn't show smoothly) although there are absolutely no problems at all while playing in-game?

I'm currently using a GTX260 with a Dell LCD 27" in 1920 x 1200 resolution, Q9550 with 2GB RAM and my PSU is Vantec Ion 2+ 550W.

I was previously using a 8800GT and noticed the stuttering while watching the intro scene from The Witcher. I thought maybe playing the intro scene in 1920 x 1200 resolution was pushing the 8800GT. In game I didn't have any problems although I didn't max out the graphics quality.

So when I upgraded to the GTX260 I thought that the stuttering from the intro scene would be gone but it's still there. Of course when playing the game I maxed out the settings and it still performed nicely. I have since installed different games and noticed the same thing happening i.e. stuttering from intro scenes. And this happens whether it's an older game like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or a newer one like Dead Space.

Am I having a problem with my hardware or is this quite normal?

i am using everything at maxed settings on crysis and crysis warhead at 1680x1050 resolution without AA and i am getting around 25-35 fps for both games...dont really see the "optimization" at all and can get very choppy at some level....i hope they will improve performance in crysis 2 though unsure.gif

@Fyrekat
are u using vista? i think the problem is you have insufficient ram but i might be wrong though but most of the time stutters got something to do with memory or worst case would be your PSU

its more GPU dependent than CPU dependent and i think it does not take advantage of quad core at all...i bet using a dual core the fps wont be much different compared to mine....currently there is not 1 game that even fully utilize quad core and dont even talk about gta4 cause that game is totally unoptimized but an upcoming game called Alan Wake is said to fully utilize multicore(dual core and quad core)...will see when it comes out next year
