"In fact, for Celcom, indicators are showing that data service is becoming the new business driver. Celcom boasts to be the No 1 mobile broadband service provider in Malaysia both in terms of subscriber base and coverage. As at December last year, Celcom had 228,000 broadband subscribers. That was a whopping increase of 300% y-o-y." (quoted from thestar.com.my)
that means there r about 200k angry celcom users running around, banging their modems... that means from 18th Feb (the date the "upgrade" is done) till now, 200k ppl lose access to upload, chat or proper browsing.
i wonder wad figure maxis and digi have currently.
another way of looking at this... celcom officials have noticed the rise in mobile broadband users (300%, see?) but since they r reluctant to expand their bandwidth allocation, they have decided to "switch on" their throttling system. which is considered as an upgrade for celcom's point of view. imagine this, 200k in previous year (2008) with capping ratio 20-30% (presumably). Now with 100% capping ratio, they can have as many as 1 million users... That's 500% increase in customer base WITHOUT any need in additional bandwidth. +500% more money and +0% operating and capital costs. Truly one brilliant move. So they can accommodate ~800k more people and potential gross earnings of RM54.4 millions a month (if all taking D68 packages). It means extra money for the CEO and all top officials...

i just came back from celcom, got myself the D68. eh guys, i thought we can buy the celcom-vodafone usb modem for RM333??? hmm, thats what i read from celcom last nite, but they are selling RM489. damn it. i have no modem to try, but i m gonna put into my handphone tonite to see if got line.
eh, they charge me RM68 just now, i thought supposed to come in bill???? that sales told me there will be another RM10 charge in 1st bill. so if i were to terminate w/n 7 days, will there be any refund of that RM68 i paid?

Hi uniquexme, welcome to celcom broadband users' agony discussion. dun think it is activated unless u got from celcom branch like fruitie. btw, can we update this thread to 98/02 dissatisfaction... havent heard anyone satisfied using celcom for the last ten days or so. No, you got me wrong. I mean the speed has no difference at all. D98 or D68 = Slow Added on March 5, 2009, 7:49 pmQUOTE(mar_ware @ Mar 5 2009, 05:50 PM) have u used 5GB or more? would like to noe whether D68 ppl get capped or not. D68 will be capped too. Celcom very quick and efficient!! After less than one hour: Very QUICK AND EFFICIENT IN CAPPING I thought can cheat abit after passing the 5gb mark by not disconnecting the connection to finish off two large files, manatau they all so quick in action to throttle my speed. Btw i passed the 5gb limit two days ago but they didn't send me any notification sms like most users here have received, is it only applicable to celcom pre/postpaid users cause i'm a maxis user, and i remembered filling in the form my contact no. Anyway i'm planning to terminate this d98 subscription, can I do it at the celcom center in TTDI? cause i registered it at the blue cube shop in digital mall, section 14 and the guy there told me if i wanna cancel it i'll need to go to the celcom branch in menara pkns This post has been edited by orenji_renji: Mar 6 2009, 05:18 AM

so the morale of the story so far..................... D68 will also get capped but later than D98 cause u dl data slower compared wif D98, meaning if D98 usage get capped within 7 Days, D68 will be 14 days actually Sial is selling mobile boredband at dial-up speed although u can surf at BROADBAND speed for the first few days of the billing cycle Sial dun mind you terminate the ac cause their new-sign up is MUCH MUCH higher than sign-out finally, pls look at post #1083 sig ( U-Mobile's thread ), I REALLY LOVE tat sig link to post #1083This post has been edited by digilife: Mar 6 2009, 07:43 AM

ah, no need to pay before hand? then how come that sales person collect that RM68 from me?????? actually its not celcom that i go to coz there had been a long queue, so i head to K&K (agent for celcom i think). but till now, its not activated yet leh, so i put in my 3G phone, still saying no service. normally how long it takes before u can use?
The celcom-vodafone usb modem not priced at RM333 meh? i wanted to buy, but the shop price at RM486, saying 333 is for signing up contract, which really amuse meh, if sign up contract, i thought the modem is free???
ah, i have an old nokia 7390, do u think its faster to use it as a modem compared to the other 3G modem? is it faster tru bluetooth or infrared? if can't use, which modem would u guys recommend? i have a Dell XPS 1330, i wonder if the sim card slot under the battery tray is a modem. have to try once mine is activated.
