If you have celcom prepaid, you can scan for 3g network. If not, have to ask someone who already subscribe at your area smile.gif

Now it seems tat Celcom use default on payment to limit users access to usage of the Net doh.gif

So the recent so called upgrades is not actually an upgrade for users, juz tat it is an " upgrade " to make sure users pay on time to enjoy Celcom services and also conserve bandwidth for NEW sign-ups sweat.gif

i remembered many mths ago when there was no throttling at all till a so called " upgrade " was in process. During tat time we hav slow access to the Net. But after tat so called upgrade was done, most heavy users got throttle doh.gif  doh.gif

so it seems tat celcom is getting more worst as compared to a year ago where we virtually enjoyed fast and UNthrottle/capless surfing. i dun blamed them cause their customer base hav increased 1000 folds .

i juz hope tat U-Mobile dun follow their foot steps.................

Shitmix also practise the same thing. I'm one of streamyx user for only one year I think 2007-2008. During that time, I presume tmnet not yet throttle torrent and i'm still enjoying bt at 512k line. biggrin.gif Till now, the line is congested and permit Jaring to take some of streamyx subscriber to reduce the congestion on their port, i believe.

-Like I said before, lets send a memorandum to SKMM (MCMC) and Celcom CEO; signed by 10,000++ of unsatisfied Celcom BB users, complete with proofs (attach the SpeedTest results). Then, ask media to do live coverage! biggrin.gif

Regards.

Oh my god, I think I have been throttled after exceeded my 5GB quota!

How do I know? By borrowing my friend's 3G sim card (D98 package). When I run a speedtest, I clocked 1,270kbps speed!
When using my own sim card, I only get 60kbps.

Speed when using my friend's sim card:

Sadly, my billing cycle is on the 24th of the month.
So I have like 3 weeks to suffer with this slow speed. I'm surprised that I've exceeded 5GB this month.

I admit that I've downloaded plenty of torrents & iTunes applications since last week.
Prior to this, I didn't bother to download many things since the signal was outside of the HSDPA range.
When the recent upgrade gave me unbelievable speed, I guess I went overboard.

Since my billing cycle is on 24th, I don't bother to wait for it to get my speed unthrottled till then.
I'll terminate my D98 later and apply for D68 on the spot. I'm not going to downgrade my package as my account is already having capped speed.

Crazy. RM 98 for dial-up speed? doh.gif If only Malacca were to have more choices, I'll definitely ditch Celcom broadband for good. 2 more months and I'll off from MMU and begin my career in Klang Valley. Till then, I've more choices. Thank God. sweat.gif

So any improvement so far? Havent tried my connection today. Is the upload speed back to normal (100kbps)? Or still less than 10kbps?

ed0gawa , at the moment , the speed in JB is terrible.
I don't know why.
Back in mid-year last year , the speed wasn't bad at all.
It's like getting worst man.

What the f**k is wrong with celcom bb these days... I was quite satisfied with it a couple of months back.

I would love to mock the customer service when i call them later.

Now there are three conclusions to be made:
1) You have lower chance to be escaped from being throttled. I wasn't throttled for the past half a year since my D98 subscription. For now, once you exceed 5GB meaning you have no chance to escape. doh.gif

2) If you don't pay your bill on time (3 months grace period), be prepared to be barred and you gotta pay full amount. doh.gif

3) Very bad upload speed. Do not bother to upload your images, documents or anything.

Thanks to Celcom, we have to suffer.

Good one , fruitie.

Yeah , I've no choice , thats why I choose Celcom.

And definitely will terminate my D98 , go with D68.

Go for DiGi RM 128, you can enjoy 6 months of 50GB and later on pay RM 158. laugh.gif

so the fair usage policy is enforced so strictly now. no surprises there since celcom customer base increased rapidly whilst the bandwidth is not expanding at the same rate. i too thinking of abandoning celcom as maxis just came into my area recently. but i heard that maxis connection may not be as good although they do not implement their fair usage policy yet. well lets see till the end of this billing month.

celcom will most likely stay wif their policy despite the 50GB move by DiGi coz celcom has the widest coverage. if DiGi manages to cover the entire KL and selangor, then celcom will suffer as these two states contribute half of broadband users (according to SKMM survey).

talking about survey, SKMM survey on wireless broadband survey is coming out soon. cant wait to see which is the WORST isp! if only they take into account all the complaints filed by the celcom customers, celcom will win hands-down. no question. no denial.

i wouldnt want to buy that. RM98 is already alot for this dial-up service. paying another RM10 for that would be too much. if u do have the option to go for DiGi or maxis, they r beta, i think. DiGi is definitely beta since they offer 10X quota at extra RM30. I think the remaining RM158 per month can be easily cancelled by selling off the modem n extra mini SD card. so still quite ok. maxis is really area-dependent from wad i heard. some areas r much faster. but the good thing is no fair usage policy so far. i seen several people posting their usage and all of them r well above 200GB a month. monstrous if compared to my monthly usage. which i think celcom will be unable to provide after all. plus maxis has abandoned their contract requirement. see proof below:

http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/broadband..._nocontract.asp

now looking for review from maxis ppl around my area.
