from what i've heard the decisions you made from the first game(providing that you still have the save game-file) will influence on your character in the 2nd game.

thought u guys might interest in that new patch for ME1
i was thinking, why the hell release patch after so long? thousand of ppl aleady finished the damm game
Cheh, I was kinda hoping it was the Arena update... Ah well... Just a PC fix update it seems. Garrus is FINALLY fixed... and the SHADOWS! OH MY GOD, how the hell did that slip past QA?
Hmmm, I wonder if there's a modding scene for this game despite the lack of a toolset.
EDIT: Oh, it indeed IS coming out with the DLC... Pinnacle Station
Hmmm, not free like BDtS... but it does sound interesting as there's now a new hub. Hmmmm...

New Mass Effect PC DLC available for purchase Posted Aug 25th 2009 6:00PM by John Callaham Filed under: Downloads, Expansions, RPG, Mass Effect
After over a year of waiting, PC games can finally download the second (and presumably last) downloadable content for BioWare's sci-fi RPG Mass Effect. The DLC, titled Pinnacle Station, can be found at Electronic Arts' downloadabe store for $5.
The download gives players of Mass Effect access to training facility at Pinnacle Station where players can test their combat skills in 12 different scenios in a holo-deck style of setting. There's also a final, 13th, mission, where things get real and you and your crew could be in danger. You can earn new weapons and items in the missions that you can take with you in the main game. It adds about two to three more hours of gameplay. Your character has to have achieved Spectre status before checking out the Pinnacle Station missions.
The newest Mass Effect 2 trailer reminds me of Terminator Salvation movie trailer. Im hoping to see multiplayer capability in ME2, it's so ronery after finishing the game.
Mass Effect 2 Collector's Edition announced Posted Nov 5th 2009 11:00AM by John Callaham Filed under: RPG, Mass Effect Series
It's not exactly a shock at this point but today BioWare and Electronic Arts announced plans to release a Collector's Edition of their upcoming sci-fi RPG sequel Mass Effect 2. Due out on January 26 alongside the standard edition the PC version will cost $59.99.
So what do you get for that extra $10? Well we do like the tin case packaging that you can see to the right. You also get an extra behind-the-scenes DVD, a 48 page art book and the first issue of Dark Horse's upcoming Mass Effect Redemption comic book. The Collector's Edition will also have some unique in-game weapons and armor to use. We just hope that stuff isn't as hard to redeem as the Dragon Age: Origins extra content is turning out to be.

X360 controller better meh?
I hotkey kao kao WoW-style, so no need to pause combat much even in hard mode.
For the PC version, they completely reworked the controls. I suppose if you played the Xbox version and loved it, moving to the PC would've been a big pain to adapt to.
Woot, I finished ME1 last weekend only (bought it with the Steam offer) and I have to say it's one of the most immersive game I played for quite a while. Just with it was longer as the end felt a bit "rushed" to me

I meant I did not expect to go direct to the end after the 4 big quests ending with Virmire, thought there would be few more stuff before ending
I am keeping my saves for that for sure, now starting a female Shepard Renegade to try to unlock most of the stuff (I played Parangon Vanguard at first).

Actually, you can build a character where both paths are filled up since the bars separate.

Actually I wanted to ask if there is a way to unlock all the abilities for one career?
For the weapons I know that if you do the achievements of "kill 150 ennemies with X weapon" then you can get the talents for this weapon in any career.
But like, right now I have my Vanguard with which I finished the game, with completing achievements for pistols and shotguns. If I start a new career like as a Soldier and unlock the achievements for Rifle and Sniper, does that mean that when I go back to my Vanguard save and that a new game with it, I can now spent talent points for Rifle/Sniper?
Or does that work only for new career created after unlocking the achievement?
yeah yeah, more xes scene! will there be xes scene??
laugh'd hard on that stuff, aliens with human be together haha. btw, a must play game.
The sex scene was lame. I vividly remember FOX News making an issue out of it when the game was released hahaha. It was all over the news. HARDCORE PORNOGRAPHY IN VIDEO GAME or something like that, how absurd. I can't believe Bioware had to go through that just to show gamers a couple of super lame "sex scenes". All I saw was just basically kissing and hugging (and a brief view of the character's buttocks).
Republicans never fail to amuse me.

Well it works like this: When you make a new character, you may select one extra skill which you have unlocked from different classes, etc. That's it.
The sex scene were really really limited to be honest (I only saw one so far, with the blue female alien (Liana?)), some tv or newspaper advertisement for shampoo show more than that and they are way more easily seen by kids...
After finishing ME1 so recently I can say I am looking forward to the 2nd, especially if the choice you made in the 1st have some influence in it and all. I really enjoyed the universe they created, nothing REALLY new or awesome, but it was well put together and coherent.

i played ME1 on xbox360 and i love playing it with controller, then i went on to try pc, meh i cant adapt and i dont like playing it with keyboard, so i uninstalled it. Was thinking to grab it off steam with promotion but everytime i think about the keyboard+mouse, then i say forget it lolz.
But the video of Garrus is on the 360 version. So clunky. I prefer PC anytime. But so cool the new armor, weapon mechanics (switching ammo on the fly) and animations (jumping over barriers). Fuuyoh!!
I wonder what our preorder bonuses are. The armor sets and if TSB will give t-shirts or stuff again. The CE already loaded with stuff, better than DA's, so definitely getting that.
Should be. I checked Amazon's website at work and yeah, it's the same price.
Amazon only give 1 armor, i saw some other website like gameshop.com and another one... which has 2 armor if pre-order but no delivery to Malaysia .... fingers cross that TSB has both versions !

I'm waiting to see if the CE here has the art book, comic and stuff. As well as the Steelbook case. If so, much better than DA's! I'm getting the CE then. I hope I get another shirt .
i casually asked a girl in TSB the otherday whether they're bringing in ME2 pre order and I think she wasn't sure or couldn't heard preoperly, she answered no and then yes. LOL
It's only a few weeks away I guess they are still trying to push their Dragon Age stock.
I don't have my old save, so it would be somewhat annoying if they killed Wrex off in the default continuity. Grunt isn't nearly as interesting a character and he certainly doesn't look like a Battlemaster.

Wrexx was indeed awesome, I liked his black humour and brutal approach, I got the save with him alive at the end
I can't wait to see the next episode of the story, I have to admit I did not know it was supposed to be a trilogy at first and was a bit "what? finish?" at the end of the 1.
Good stuff they follow the story according to the decisions you took (like I killed the Bug Queen, didnt kill Wrexx etc.)

Yes but our Dragon Age CE here comes with a wooden case so I'm waiting to see if we're getting the same ME CE as the US .

Yup I remembered this as well, nothing was ever mentioned before in the promotion about a wooden box. All of us only knew about it when TSB started the pre-order. So lets see what version of ME2 box we are getting this time.
I remembered someone pre-ordering Dragon Age via youbeli, not sure if you can get the steel box collector's edition from that site or not.
Hmm? ME1 no CE meh? I only knew about it's existence very long after launch.

It is much less clunky than the 360 version at any rate. Of course framerate sucks but ME2 has apparently fixed that.
I also don't see what is so bad about the lifts. I do walk everywhere but not a big deal to me. The bigger deal for me is the cringe worthy voice acting of certain characters (read : male Shepard). I don't see how that is fixed in the preview videos especially the Garrus one.

Bleh, the true Shepard was the female one. Especially more so when you play the bastard since she plays the part oh so well.

Jennifer Hale. Man why wasn't she in Dragon Age. Luckily that Carth/ Kaiden guy wasn't though. Whiny as hell characters.
Well she has been in a lot of games of late (Brutal Legend, The Old Republic, Mass Effect 2), so perhaps she may have been a bit too overcrowded.
But if you notice, she commonly appears in every other Bioware game series that is released: Baldur's Gate Neverwinter Nights Knights of the Old Republic Jade Empire Mass Effect Dragon Age
It is very unfortunate that Alpha Protocol doesn't let you choose your gender. Otherwise, I'd start a frigging petition (In spite of the fact that I hate them) just to make sure she's in it.
This game will come in 2 discs worth of content, presumably dual-layer, and 15GB minimum HDD space. I wonder how much content do they stuff to need 2 discs. Also, no more elevator loading, they replaced them with normal loading screen hahaha. I believe the elevator loading is an Xbox issue, because it's super fast on decent PCs.

Oh most definitely was because of the Xbox. It was part of that silly movement of "hiding" loading screens by forcing you to wade through something in the game with no actual gameplay.
Reports say they will stop using weapon skills, so all classes can use the same weapons (assault rifle, machine pistol, heavy pistol, rocket launcher, shotgun, etc) effectively. Shotgun sentinel incoming!!
Probably they will also do away with the ME1 skill system, no more +1 rifle +1 rifle +1 rifle. Most talent points will give you some cool ability to use ala Dragon Age.

So, they're decoupling the FPS combat from the RPG skills...
That sounds strangely familiar...
I think Hellgate London did the same thing ("Crouching" as a skill still serves as my greatest example of "RPGifying" gone wrong)
Seriously though, what about all the weapon based skill abilities? I know most of them were quite similar (While others were downright useless) but does this mean no more shotgun that shoots ROCKETS?
Most likely class-specific weapon abilities will stay, but skill will be universal, sorta like borderlands.
This removes the annoyance of lanjiao shooting if you use non-class weapon, and being completely useless when enemies (like robo-Saren) keep overheating your gear.

Well if they keep the class specific weapon abilities, its almost the same thing I guess since the weapon abilities were tied to your weapon skill before.
Plus, that was the exact purpose of the engineer... To screw up your gear. If you could easily just swap stuff out to counter it, then its kinda useless.
Dunno, it's probably just more streamlined anyways. There's something weird about taking out big turrets/robots with a stupid small pistol but shotgun can miss completely at point blank.

Speaking of the Engineer class, Bioware released a new Engineer demo. Apparently the ME2 engineer can have bots, hopefully they will do it better than Hellgate engineers.

Eh lol, I made a mistake, when I saw we are getting the Terminus Assault Gear, I simply presumed we're getting the same deal as Gamestop's giving, Terminus Assault Gear and Blackstorm weapon as oppose to the Amazom.com offer - Inferno Armor. No biggie, the CE still comes with its own armour and weapon set the chitinous Collector armor and the Collector assault rifle .

well IMO thats not a fair comparison, since DA was in development a llooooooooooong time before ME came out.
DA's greatest strength is the party combat. It's more tactical compared to most J/W RPGs out now.
Also... DA's release of DLC is more frequent than ME... I don't know whether thats a good thing or not rofl

Hold your horses there dude, I never said DA was bad, just that its facial animations were subpar compared to ME's (Seriously, its like no one in DA can open their mouths large enough for anything but their tongues to fit through). The most jarring example? The yawnings... Damn, they looked horrible... Its like the characters are blowing bubbles but a yawn sound comes out.
Here . I've been gone for 2 weeks due to Xmas season.
I bugged tsb enough on Tues until they put up the Hardcore Hits thing. I've already preordered the CE Hardcore ME fan.
Woot, been wondering why you havent drop by in the thread yet, I've also already ordered and paid for the CE . Must play the game slow enough until Dragon Age expansion comes out in Mac though

The Awakening is damn expensive leh. I read 15 hours of content only. Then again, the story sounds fun.
I'm having it PosLajued though... no time to go to tsb. Meaning no release day for me .

We can wait for the review to come out first this time and decide whether it's worth paying that amount, nothing to rush about . Anyway I'm trying out Airpak this time. Poslaju is charging RM 2 for the CE, I'm staying just in Shah Alam anyway. I checked with TSB already, this is due to the weight limit impose by different postal services, TSB only subsidize the postal fee, so it's not free . I think some of us had a bit of confusion about this last time went we all pre-ordered Dragon Age.

I never saw the option to change the shipping wor. I did pay the rm2 though. I want it fast damnit
I stay 10 mins away (but have to cross a highway) but that day really no time to collect. 26th right? My only free day would be 28th and like that might as well have it shipped to me than walk.
Hmm I think I can get Awakening for cheaps with the points from ME2.

Duuuuuude,
What I meant was, the "bonus content" is most likely new missions and not armour and weapons (Which was mentioned earlier)... otherwise they wouldn't have bothered mentioning it.

bonus content seems underwhelming for me. Don't really need the extra clutter of an extra box which doesnt fit nicely into my rows of game dvd boxes.
I imagine there will be an intergalactic space vendor selling the extra bonus content ala DA:O
I'd be very conflicted if they used Joker to "peddle" it.
"Ok there Captain, heading out to <some star system>. Before we head out, we got a 'distress signal' from <DLC system>, would you like to check that out instead? Pretty please captain?"
Chris Priesley has already confirmed the Cerberus card is coming on both Standard and Collector's. The only ingame extra items the CE comes with are the Collector's Armor and Weapon set. The rest are physical media besides the extra DVD. For fans only I guess.
I wonder why there's no romantic option for the Quarian chick tali back in ME1 ??? i hope ME2 would provide this option haha that would be interesting, no?
Hehe Seth Green is the voice actor for Joker in Mass Effect. It would be convenient for Bioware to model the character's appearance after the voice actor.
Still wondering whether should get CE version or not.
I also had this dilemma hehe but since I'm a huge fan, I went for CE AND it's also rm10 cheaper than DA's CE.
48 page artbook (shrunk to fit the case) Issue #1 of Mass Effect : Redemption comic (shrunk to fit the case) 'Limited Edition' Cerberus Network Card Collector Armor and Weapon set Bonus dvd with behind the scenes stuff (of the 'Blur' trailer and more) Steelbook case (case is twice the size of a dvd case)
It's the Collectors' Edition, not the Collector's. Better sleep with your M-23 Katana Shotgun in case they want it back
Standard also comes with the Cerberus card. Plus we get Terminus gear which is awesome. I prefer it to the Inferno.
I've preordered the CE... Now to decide if I'm going to pay before or after the preorder deal expires.
You got anything urgent to use money in between the 4 days before the game release? The pre-order finished on 22 Jan, the game comes out on 26 Jan. Nothing to lose if you pay earlier because you're still paying the same amount anyway even after the pre-order. Just try to get the most out of what you pay . But if you anything urget in between that, than of course RL should take priority

Huah, tough decision, it's either your tummy or the game hehe. If it were me I would also be thinking of my food . No big loss if you pay later because it's just in-game item, you still get the physical bonuses which I think is more delightful for your eyes to see . But still early, you can still decide by 21st, who knows if you could save enough by that time to get through the 3 days before your next paycheck right.

I didn't mind the Mass Effect activation limit. It was like 5 and I didn't need the disc. This reminds me... need to reinstall that back to get into the groove again... after I finish off DA... after I get some time...
oh fuuuu- i hate physical drm with activation limits. will probably get steam version. if retail box mass effect 1 got activation limit drm, then retail box mass effect 2 will have activation limit drm as well?
Judging from DRM of Dragon Age Origins.
I don't think they gonna implement that.
I actually don't mind the five limit thingie, except I have tried revoking 2 activations prior to formating my HDD.
But it didn't work (it seems to work previously) and now I am left with 3.
Digital Rights Management (DRM) - The boxed/retail PC version of Mass Effect 2 will use only a basic disk check and it will not require online authentication. This is the same method as Dragon Age: Origins. Digital versions will use the retailers protection system.

I'm guessing they're not bothering this time since they're going to incorporate the Bioware Social Network into it (Like with DA)... which is kinda like DRM anyway.

Grrr
I'm still trying to finish off my saved game. I blame myself for not remembering to back them up the last time. Seriously though, playing ME1 for the 10th time gets really boring.
Like Mass Effect bundle, that comes with Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2.
Good for new players too.
I would have loved that if not for the Steam promo sale. But I don't think they would bundle a CE version of ME2 so... meh.

I wonder if soldier class will have anything different on ME2. ME1 soldier class was boring to me.
It seems an Adept can wear armor like a Soldier now. Soldier's only advantage is the slow time thing, high health and lots and lots of guns? I'm still thinking of swapping my Shep to Infiltrator.
This post has been edited by secondrate: Jan 11 2010, 06:08 PM
i heard that in ME1 solider can use abilities if you unlocked achievements by using the abilities 75 times. yes? no?
the abilities achievement, must be yourself use the abilities, or team mates use also can ar?
Mmm betul. Like if I use Sabotage 75 times on my Infiltrator, I can use the ability on my next Soldier. I used that and hacked in AI Hacking for my old Soldier. Too bad about the saved games...
Must be yourself. Unfortunately that means you have to play through as one of each THEN start a new character to use.
I also read that you get bigger import save bonuses if your character is level 60. I don't feel like playing again and it's not possible on one playthrough.
minimum 3 play throughs, with 1st and 2nd play through 100% tech / bio classes?
aw shat i am vanguard.
I think you can only choose one extra ability. So it's either Singularity or Overload or Barrier, etc., no Singularity AND Barrier. But you can always hack the rest in I forgot how liao. I want to add 2 abilities to my Shep.
hmmm then which vanguard biotics ability bestest for soldier ah?
or i can forget about replaying with solider and just stick with vanguard lol.
The only reason to play Soldier is to unlock assault rifles . But since ME2 has some training system, everyone can use liao. You can change class also in ME2 when you import your save.
ME1 Vanguard I'm not familiar. Throw? I don't know the skill set since I don't like biotic classes. But ME2 Vanguard is so powerful with the Charge teleport thing leh.

Screw the assault rifles... It was either the shotgun or sniper rifle. The former because it works great with lift and the rockets are awesome and for the latter, is that it gives you range and great DPS
i was never interested in getting mass effect before this even though i heard it's a good game (i am more of a dragon age type) but after seeing infiltrator class vid, i felt like getting it now. and seeing mass effect is a trilogy, i think i should buy mass effect 1 as well..
haiz now i hv to get rm300.or if anyone planning to sell their mass effect cd to me,pm me yea
haiz now i hv to get rm300.or if anyone planning to sell their mass effect cd to me,pm me yea
It's a great game but not like Dragon Age. Personally I love both but Mass Effect is more action-oriented.
I also thought I have to spend rm300... but Mass Effect on Steam is only usd$19.99 and that day they had sale and it was usd$4.99. That was when I grabbed my original copy. BioWare can have my money.
If you're a collector I suggest you get a new copy for Mass Effect 1. Why? Because of the limited number of activation you have with the game because of the DRM. Try look back at a few posts before this, they were small talks about it.
ah really?darn it,if i know i would have grabbed that deal.but i only hv debit card,so i guess i stil cant buy from steam..
and i prefer hardcopy than soft copy
I used my Maybank Debit card to buy wor. I also bought CS:S for my friend.

Steam version is 10gb (right?) and it took me 14 hours on 1Mbps speed if I remember correctly. Steam has to be on but it works in offline or online mode.
I had to install Bring Down the Sky and the 1.02 patch myself though.

Actually, yes you can... That's one of the best things about limited activations, you can use multiple copies at the same time (Up to 5 that is)

there is a thing called backup your copy before u uninstall it or format your PC
I still got some of those gigantic game boxes, like Worlds of Ultima and Icewind Dale (bleh game but cool box). Tried to put them alongside Dragonlance/Death Gate novels for ultimate geekiness but it looked crapp.
no need so troublesome. just copy and paste the whole folder.
or you could use 7-Zip, archive the whole steam folder into a .7z archive then copy the .7z file into your Buffalo Mini Station.
pls stop spread the improper way to backup steam games
there is thousand of steam games, not all games work via copy paste style some game need registry to work (some case like installing DLC or add on which the installer will search the registry to the installed main game)
plus u wont see these game at add/remove program list

well it works for me and so i deem it to be proper and working.
so far all the games i have can work like this, no problem.
steam is not dumb.
on a clean install OS PC, all the games will run and install something first if running them (steam games) for the first time on a clean install OS.
yeah , the thing work for u wat if other ppl got the game that you dont have? In any case that your style wont work for them got think of possible of that?

then again, you are probably right about some items.
i.e.
DLC + DRM
so far the games i have do not have DLC or DRM when i copy pasted over a clean install OS.
i did encounter some problem with l4d2 when i copy pasted over to Win 7 32 bit. i solved the problem by doing a file integrity check and it downloaded some new files.
no problem when i switched back to clean install XP Pro sp2
now i got riddick with TAGES DRM and Borderlands + zombieland DLC.
belum try this method lagi.

Well to get the best possible transition from ME1 to ME2 you would need to either do the anal playthrough (kill planet hostiles on foot etc) or play it twice.

No and the saved game will work also. I used to have the pirated version, now using the Steam version and it works fine.
Remember to install the free Bring Down the Sky and 1.02 patch (don't get Pinnacle Station, waste of time and money) after it's done. BDtS will probably have an impact in ME2 and 1.02 fixes things.

Since you have installed the pirated ME, onto your hdd - once steam has created your local cache on your pc in the steamapps folder, you should be able to copy the pirated folder into your steamapps folder (please don't copy the crack file). Steam will then check your files (you may have to verify the integrity of the files) and just download your missing files and any other files that need to be updated. I've used that method before when i didn't want to wait 3 days to dl a legit copy on steam or for changing a retail copy to steam.
Remember that ME2 is revamping the weapons and armor restrictions, so you can pretty much go with any class combination and not worry about the tank/dps/support dynamic.

Approximately how long to finish ME without side quests and with side quests? Are the side quests longer than the main mission itself?
The side quests take quite some time, since some of them: -requires you to explore a planet to get the entrance to the "dungeon" -requires you to explore a planet to get stuff (for example, ores) -requires you to go to some other planet, and then return back, while at the same time, you still have other stuff to do on the planet you're at. -requires a trigger, for example, squadmember quests (you have to talk to them, encourage/bash, increase approval)
I think if I accumulate the time taken for completing side quests and then compare the time to complete main quest, side quests takes longer time.

This can work, however it's not supported and some games it will just not work with.
1. Install the game (somewhere) 2. Backup the installation folder to a separate location 3. Uninstall the game 4. Start the Steam download/installation of the game 5. Pause the download once it's started (some people like to let it get to 1-2%) 6. Exit Steam once you've paused the download 7. Copy the backup over the folder in \Steam\steamapps\common\ 8. Restart Steam 9. Go to My Games 10. Right-click on the game, click on Properties, then Local files 11. Click Verify integrity of game cache... 12. Let this finish, and unpause the download once it's done if verification didn't already
steam automatically updates games for you. If it's at 100% then you should have the gamefiles for 1.02.
Edit: not sure how steam handles dlc so you'll just have to mess around with the game yourself

For me I had to install them myself. I used the retail versions and it worked although I had to reinstall ME once. Remember not to leave traces of the pirated version around especially in the registry. Steam freaked out over that while installing BDtS.

Completely agree with you on the xenophobic racist Ashley. She's annoying and there is enough racism in OUTSIDE. I want to see less in ME.
The pre-order from steam has been released and it comes with inferno armorrrrr for both Standard Edition @ $49.99 / Deluxe Edition @ $59.99 (inferno armor only comes with for pre-purchase order)

Normally I buy the original and download the no-CD crack. My DVD drive always makes the sound like it's buttsecks-ing my game disc
Usually you will be able to start downloading it a few days before but it will be "encrypted" and you won't be able to play.
On release day you may have a small update to download that will unlock it.
I said "usually" because in some case Steam did not really give much time beforehand to download it, I do hope they don't mess up this one
thanks alot, will pre-order it tonite then....since i already download ME on steam when they had CRAAAAZYYYYY promotion last December thru January (i think i bought it USD4.99 IINM) I'm thinking why not pre-order the ME2 for continuation sake hihihi...
I'll be getting ME through retail since I feel sorry for TSB.
Besides, retail for standard edition is far cheaper than on steam and retail for CE is at least the same price as steam but with arguably more "value".
I hope this thread does not degenerate into a thread about free t-shirts and posters like the DA:O one.

Besides, retail for standard edition is far cheaper than on steam and retail for CE is at least the same price as steam but with arguably more "value".

But I liked that T-shirt... I wear it at least once a fortnight.
Yar, I loved the first one but I got too many games from the Xmas sales, I think I am gonna wait a bit to buy this one. Either try to "forget" it until Steam does some sales later on, or will just buy it later on.
Just pre order ME2...but its only available to download on 29 january. Am i correct or do they allow us to download on 27 january itself and install on 29 january? Confuse ler
Bioware has been very successful by just producing epic single player RPGs ever since I'm was still wearing diapers. Though I see there is a potential in ME2 having a multiplayer mode. I'm afraid as of now, there won't be any multiplayer for ME2.
The replayability of it comes from doing the adventure again using different moral choices (kill Y instead of X, kill Z instead of leaving live etc.), different class and co.
Multiplayer could be awesome but I don't think it's on the plan for it.
I dont think there will be any MP for ME2,as even the single player campaign is good enough alone, and it encourages you to replay the game with a different class and used different decision which will give a very different outcome.
Okie. Some questions before i order the game, you guys see any replayability in ME2? Is this Multiplayer? I wiki it and its Single Player.
Dude, BioWare games tend to be really replayable. I've finished ME1 almost 10 times, KotOR twice and Dragon Age once with another in the works. You'll love them if you like a game with a good story and characters.
ME2 looks more action packed than ME1 Awesome Soldier class! I'll forget my plans of changing Shep's class to Infiltrator.
Replaying ME now. Preparing Shepard for the next quest. I hope they don't strip Shepard off his/her weapons, armours and, of course, levels.
Yes they will . Watch the ME2 intro in German to see why. Or read Redemption.

Shepard actually dies (thrown into space. It appears he/she's helmet isn't properly sealed and he/she suffocates while falling to a planet below). Cerberus and the Blue Suns among other groups are hunting for the body which is placed in a stasis pod somewhere (a bit confused about this part). Liara goes in search of Shepard. Cerberus launches the Lazarus Project and revives Shepard with some implants (which explains the scars Renegade Shepard gets).
ok i just finished ME as a goody two shoes infiltrator..really nice story...captivating..now cant wait for ME2..cant wait to see the result of my decision in that game..

I think we also get the Blackstorm weapon if we preorder.
Anyway... check out the website guys! New wallpaper of the Terminus armor, Shepard's Fight For The Lost vid (I'll embed it here later), Sci vs Fi video and images of the Blood Dragon Armor in ME2 in action.
The Universe page has 4 'Classified' squad members

We're getting Terminus armor if we preorder also. The description from tsb also includes the Blackstorm projector thing.
But no Inferno armor unless it's digital.

owh ok..thanks for the insight..now indecisive whether to pre-order or buy later, n whether i shud buy CE or not..if buy now, will b broke for 2 weeks..haiz so hard la...
I think it's ugly. Dragon Age version is also ugly (my fav is the Legion of the Dead one).
Eh strange, it does look ugly, but I still remember a while back before Dragon Age even came out there was a trailer for the Blood Dragon armor for both DA and ME2. The ME2 Blood Dragon Armor in that trailer was quite nice looking compared to the pictures in the link . And yeah, Blood Dragon armor for DA was even more ugly than the one for ME2 .
hurm im wondering how does me2 gonna import all my decision since me1 didn ask me to save my character profile for the final decision..(d one where i decide to save d council n anderson as a council member..
EDIT: ah i know already, after i finished the game, they save my profile automatically for a replay...

i think there's no romance option for aliens in ME2 as mention in the official forum by one of the devs.... http://meforums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html...17611&forum=144 there's only 3 possible romance option in ME2 and they are all human female, i guess the devs doesn't like human having sexual relationship with aliens....
but do you guyz think that the pirated version of the saved game in ME will work on the original version of ME2? Really love this game but can't be bothered to buy an original version of ME and play it again though.

Well my saved game is half pirated, half ori... it worked fine when I installed the Steam version of ME and cut the files back.
That's supposedly part of the mystery, Shep got killed and the Geth took his armor, later he got resurrected by Cerberus. The mysterious geth appears to be malfunctioning personal stalker (who thinks on his own), although I was kinda hoping he'd be a teammate.
My guess is he would be a cross between liberated Agent Smith (Matrix) and Nordom (Planscape)

Hmm....Collecter's Edition. To buy or not to buy Is it worth it?
Well... are you a fan of the series? The stuff inside is mostly for fans only such as the comic, art book and extra dvd. Otherwise you get the Collector's ingame armor and weapon set. Everyone will get the Terminus armor and I think, Blackstorm projector.

Mass Effect forums at the social.bioware site = full of trolls and misinformed whiny people.
Epic fail .
Haha, that's the same with Dragon Age, even the complaints about RTO delays havent cool down yet , but at least in Dragon Age there's the Toolset part where the discussion there were a lot more civil . Later when ME2 came out I'm pretty sure there going to new sets of whiny thread.

part of it human nature , other would be 3 times delay of RTO. some just cannot accept it.

ok honestly, mass effect 2 has the best videos ever, all of their videos never failed me..no other games have put as much importance to their videos like mass effect 2..n surprisingly, this is the only series that bioware put such importance on graphic..
I am getting the CE for the PC. No offense to XBOX360 owners but Mass Effect 2 is more a like shooter than the first. Nothing can be PC when its to FPS games or games that require crosshair aiming.
lol...how come he can sell so cheap compare to tsb ?? i thought tsb was the sole distributor for EA games in m'sia
and Battlefield bad company 2 CE rm125...that's freaking cheap quite tempting = =
Who knows why, rental, staffing, etc might affect the cost, just a wild guess though . I noticed that his CE for any other games is quite cheaper compared to TSB, but his standard edition is almost the same. Probably TSB is making profits from the CEs eh. Oh, I think he also doesnt have the pre-order bonus for ME2, he stated the reason in one of his post in his thread there

TSB are the official distributors of the game and thus when they sell it through their one official store, they HAVE to use the RRP. 3rd party retailers can do whatever they want since when they purchase from TSB, they purchase it at dealer prices which means they can slash their prices however much they want (Which just means it eats into their profit margins)
Well at least I get Collector edition stuffs. for forgetting to preorder until early today
my terminus
Eh, did tsb tell you you aren't getting it? If not, don't lose hope la. I know Deimos got his CE on release day but managed to get the preorder stuff. Connections maybe?
Maybe they have surplus in preorder codes and giving it away to first come first serve basis?
*Changed to optimistic mode*
YES!
Acutally it's not too late. I emailed TSB today asking if any purchase for ME2 today is still considered as a preorder, and they said yes. What they said:

cant they just speed up the release date for the ori? fark man..im full of envy now seeing all those ppl who download pirate stuff play it earlier than me
like.. the time at the ending.. after u beat the game where u save before the confrontation with Saren. you cannot save after this point. how the game know whether u have saved the council or not?

Each time u finish the game, a SPECIAL SAVE will be created. You can double check it by Selecting New game in the main menu Select existing ID instead of creating new character If there is a list of your previous character there, means you all set to go.
Speaking of pleasing people, BioWare listened to every last bit of criticism leveled at Mass Effect 1.
Soooo enjoice looking at this

You know pirates can compress things like magicians. That must have been a rip without the setup.exe right?
My pirated Mass Effect is 7.xgb but Steam one is 10gb. I believe the retail one is compressed also to fit on dvd9.
right.. btw may i know..all game in steam no need to install first? i mean after finish download from steam, then play..??
Still need to install. My TF 2 and L4D1 also need to install but that one I got the discs.
Added on January 23, 2010, 2:05 pmI just finished watching IGN's video review of ME2. Wah, I'm damn hyped up for the game liao. Just have to finish ME1 . Good game but play it too many times and you will hate it.
Btw, did they minus points for being 'overly referential'? I would love more references to ME1, screw people who didn't play it.
This post has been edited by secondrate: Jan 23 2010, 02:05 PM
really need to finish ME1 first to understand play ME2?
I just play for the quests etc. The story you could always wikipedia it or something despite it being based on the decisions you've made throughout the entire game.

Mass Effect's main story was amazing, but the side-quests killed the replay value. Hated them.
Looking at the reviews, looks like they've done away with the generic locations. One thing I'm looking forward to is how me releasing the Rachni queen affects anything. It better well not betray me! Hehe.

I dug up my old retail copy of ME1 to play in preparation for ME2, but the game seems to keep freezing for a few seconds every now and then. Anyone of u encountering this prob? I've got the 1.02a patch and my gfx card drivers are the latest.
Ahhh finally finished my save. Lvl 50. Not bad but I remember I got higher last time. Too bad I can't get my quad core in time .
QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Jan 23 2010, 11:33 PM)
If not mistaken, ME and ME2 for PC don't have built in gamepad compatibility.
Correct. The devs already confirmed it. Anyway, ME2's user inferface, etc. is all customize for pc so we get the best experience on keyboard and mouse. That's apparently why they didn't include controller compatibility.
Added on January 24, 2010, 12:06 amAh what to do when you can't wait for ME2 to launch (and you don't pirate )? The answer? Rewatch the trailers!
I've just watch IGN's video review on ME2, it's noted that the story in ME2 has heavy reference from the 1st game. So for those that have not played the 1st. I suggest you play through atleast the main quest only. Though some side quest has connections to the main story it's not entirely necessary.
Improvements in ME2:
1. class has been revamped for better replayability 2. better exploration - notably space exploration 3. each side quest now have their own environment to explore in; unlike the 1st where 90% of all side quest environment are the same. 4. better menu & inventory layout 5. elevator rides removed 6. slow loading texture in ME are not presence in ME2 7. customizable armor/gear
Negatives:
1. rare crashes, glitches

bloody pirates! i hate them! Bioware deserves more for all the work they put into the game.
It wouldn't be so bad (ok yes it would) if they just shut up but they keep parading the fact around and post spoilers. Some are ori owners who got lucky but most are pirates I'll bet.
Added on January 24, 2010, 2:45 pmA few spoilers (both ME1 and very tiny bit of ME2)
I am not unhappy they kinda "fixed" the inventory though, having to go through buttload of useless stuff to find that one piece of stuff I wanted wasnt exactly fun or realistic (how did they carry so much crap around btw? Space pockets? ^^). Most of the normal loot you found in ME1 was worthless anyway (especially once you got Specter Gear).
I am more worried about the "choices did in ME1 are not that important", that's a big thing when you consider how much Bioware hyped that part.
Will definitely still get the game though, but right now I got lots of games to play anyway (Xmas sales were full of win!)
Im quite disappointed now,as i even went to the point of overclocking my desktop so that i get to enjoy ME2 on recommend. Now,it seems not much point of doing so.
I was really hyped up for the major decisions of ME1 bought over to ME2,but now, what is it for? Just a marketing gimmick. Lack of inventory just makes it another GoW like game.
Im glad that there is no more MAKO,but some of the changes, isnt that good.

I feel kinda let down too but time will tell how good this game is. I won't really put all my trust in that guy's post.
I'm also getting a quad core for this among other things and I got a new hdd last year for DA and this.

I'm not going anywhere near that link, but I'd just like to state that the ppl who post at gamefaqs aren't exactly the best judges of games (Add to the fact that they're playing an "advance" copy further enforces that).
