Have tried natural gut in the early 90's Bowbrand follow Ivan Lendl, natural gut is the ULTIMATE feeling, playability, retaining tension, but the strings frays easily, and though string is frayed, the tension still hold true to form, if in this lifetime you want to try natural gut, try at a higher tension, COZ Natural gut is DAMN friggin powerful..... if you use on a Babolat racket, powerful racket + powerful string= popeye tennis player.

to experience it at least once in my lifetime... should i go full natural or hybrid it ? $$$ is not an issue here.. just wanna have the exp of a liftetime..haha..

Please don't go full.
Considering you're a power player (atleast from what I've heard here), going full gut will be awesome for a few couple of sets. But for the sake of not snapping your string (you'll feel like your balls being crushed when it snaps), hybrid with poly.

I suggest poly on the cross, gut on the mains. Tension you can string it up at around 60lbs on your PDRGT, once the string sets-in a bit it'll be like you're on drugs all of a sudden.

Putting a couple of string savers here and there won't be a idea as well btw.

I would recommend FULL set up, hybrid means your cross's (other string and NOT Natural gut) may cut into the natural gut, eg: You put Natural mains, and Blackcode as a cross, since BC is slightly pentagon shape, it will bite into your mains, hence shortening the span of life of your natural gut.

ok now we are ON to something.. interesting views from both our sifus. I get what praetorian is saying if i go hybrid with a string that has strong edges such as blackcode. will snap the guts in a matter of hits as will eat into the nat very fast.

but then again i hear stringers will recommend me not to go full natural coz they say will be too powerful pulak.. asking me to hybrid instead and thus making 2 sets out of the nat

I am no sifu lah, Ben has a opinion and he is entitled to it, I certainly can understand his viewpoint.
If you hybrid, just use a normal synthetic gut or multi , you can go poly provided they don't have any special shape, if they are 'round' feel free to use poly.

Stringers will always recommend you 'hybrid' thats to save you money, but hehehehe if money is no object you owe to yourself to try FULL gut at least once in your lifetime.

There is a reason why no company in the world can replicate natural gut.

you are absolutely right. luv to get all the inputs i can. well i guess i'll be trying both setups then. will go for full setup first round and hybrid it the next round.

for full natural gut. should i go higher than normal ? say on my blackcode now is 57lbs for the 4d300. should i go 60lbs or 62lbs ? the range of the 4d300 is 55-65 i think.

My last string bed was full natural gut. If you dont have arm problems, you dont need to use natural gut. The price nowadays are too expensive. 1 set alone easily can buy a whole reel of synthetic (17-18 racquets) or 6 sets of poly. And when somehow if u break it in 4 hours... damnnn... $300 masuk longkang. But if u wanna try it just for the sake of a lifetime experience, go ahead... just be sure u get a stringer with good experience. U dont want a bangla stringer who might friction burn & notch up your string during stringing... do some research on natural gut stringing & check on pre-stretching if the string are required for it. Mine was strung by a USTA certified stringer

Now a bit about natural gut.. i would bet my life that there will never be any man made string that can ever surpass the supreme feel, resiliency & playability of natural gut. The day that man invented a string that can match natural gut would be the darkest day in the world of tennis as natural gut is considered holy. The amount of praises that I have for natural gut is simply too much. Its like a non aging virgin's bosom, ever so fresh, bouncy & caring & comforting your arm like a mother to a child... the day my natural gut broke, i stared at it in silence, my eyes wet.... it remained the way it was from the 1st day till it's final moment... undivided love, 100% to the very end.

If you wanna try natural gut, just for the sake of trying it, u should never hybrid it with anything. How can u mix something so marvelous with some pariah poly? I'm sorry but I'm a huge anti polyester person... i dont give a damn how special or how well any poly plays, who ever invented polyester string should be shot to death. Go ahead & try natural gut... you will remember it always & cherish the moment
