lol... name USTA... of cos in USA la... LMAO..... here i dunno who can string well... maybe botak raymond of ultimate because back in the days he was a certified stringer & got offered to string at wimbledon. U can also checkout some pre-string waxing method to prolong the life of Natural gut. Do check with Peter too... i love his stringing & the prince 5000 drool.gif

I am no sifu lah, Ben has a opinion and he is entitled to it, I certainly can understand his viewpoint.
If you hybrid, just use a normal synthetic gut or multi , you can go poly provided they don't have any special shape, if they are 'round' feel free to use poly.

Stringers will always recommend you 'hybrid' thats to save you money, but hehehehe if money is no object you owe to yourself to try FULL gut at least once in your lifetime.

There is a reason why no company in the world can replicate natural gut.

No sifu either.
But just speaking from experience. I once had a full-gut strung at 57lbs on a 90 sq.inch racquet, but the string snapped in just 2 matches. Furthermore those 2 matches IINM, were relatively short ones (just about an hour plus or so). Felt so heart broken that time when they snapped, especially when I'm only studying then. Money doesn't drop from anywhere.

I switched to poly and gut after that and never had a string snapped on me with this setup atleast until now.

I don't know if its the stringer's fault that he didn't string well or not, or maybe just my playstyle isn't right for it. But really, experienced once.... RM200+ down the drain, ain't gonna do it again. shakehead.gif

you are absolutely right. luv to get all the inputs i can. well i guess i'll be trying both setups then. will go for full setup first round and hybrid it the next round.

for full natural gut. should i go higher than normal ? say on my blackcode now is 57lbs for the 4d300. should i go 60lbs or 62lbs ? the range of the 4d300 is 55-65 i think.

60lbs would be nice I say.
Wouldn't matter if you string it at 65lbs either, since Dunlop racquets are rather flexible. Won't hurt your arm much, if at all.

zdepth is totally correct on proper form required to string natural gut.If you gut broke ANYWHERE near the racket frame, its the fault of the stringer, if it broke smack down in the middle of the racket and the STRING is NOT frayed before hand, 50% stringer, 50% string. Why? If you recall when you buy a string its in a packet and coiled up in a nice circle for you, IF you( d stringer) does not uncoil the string properly it retains some coil memory and when you string the racket you naturally weave your cross's, by pulling them through the mains, you still have to get rid of the coil memory and your string has to be pre-stretched for optimal playability.

Natural gut are only people who hit predominately flat, strings hardly move if you hit flat, people that have arm/shoulder problems, natural gut does not lose tension that much maybe 1-2lbs, I know some people who have had Natural gut for a year and it still plays fine, ie like freshly strung. You know why pro's these days don't use natural gut, coz 1) the rackets these days are extremely powerful, you need a string that provides extreme control hence the thats how Luxilon become popular. Can any of you recall pro's in the 80-90's all using Natural gut, why, because their rackets were all about control, they just used gut as it was powerful.Ever wonder why Sampras was using Babolat VS 19G at 72lbs, his racket did the talking....
