whole base la.
lapping only the heatpipe will result not even surface flatness on the heatsink base.

ooo okay haha... aiya doh.gif doh.gif .. actually what i wanna mean is lap whole base togather or copper 1st then alu.... tongue.gif.... sry sry for the confusion notworthy.gif
just direct whole thg ah? hmmm..... any tips to do it?? coz the copper and alu base is diff in hardness.... so might be very hard to do it... haha newbie here tongue.gif

get a piece of flat tile or something and roll a piece of sandpaper on it and then lap ur heatsink... material hardness doesn't matter cuz u will be lapping it till its 100% flat... smile.gif

i threw away my processor cover doh.gif now duno what to cover with my processor when lapping cry.gif anyone can tell me what to replace?

well, u can use a plastic to cover it, or masking tape might work.

1 stupid question here..

will it dmg my proc if i overdo the lapping?

in my imagination,when we overdo it, we can the chipset.. o.0 i dont think so rite?

Lapping a IHS till the components are exposed is not that easy. By the time you reach a mirror finish you probably haven't lap half way tru yet.
