after I lapped my scythe samurai master I plugged it in my pc. then after two, three days I take out the heatsink to change proc, noticed there's something look like hangus on the heatsink's base. does it means that the heatsink is not properly lapped?

Well, the more reflective the base, it means the base are more flat, and can reflect more lights tongue.gif you do the maths

i agree wif tht. cause with scratches you will get rough surface.. so when contact wif the proc. will be micro holes or gap.

Not really. A concave base can still reflect light that falls on it but image that comes out isn't what it should look like. You can test how flat the surface is by seeing it's reflection of a straight line.

Thats where thermal paste comes into place. As long as the surface of contact is flat for both IHS and HSF base it should be alright. If you notice some Thermalright heatsink base are very badly finished. Concave and bumps almost everywhere. Thats when a lapping would certainly shows great difference.

Lapped my notebook processor and heatsink but results ain't different. It was flat before lapping but wasn't mirror shine.
