I just jailbreak-ed my iPod Touch a few minutes ago using Redsnow. Yay~ Thanks to all the info here, the process was pretty smooth. ^^

Need some info about jailbreaking... I have a 2nd gen itouch and I wanna know if I have to reset it to default settings before jailbreaking. There is something called untethered jailbreaking which is easier right?

quickpwn cant jailbreak ipod touch 2nd gen. To jailbreak it, use redsn0w beta by dev team.

For redsnow, will I lose all my previous apps and all after jailbreaking? Don't want to reset my iTouch to default settings cuz I manually manage my songs and don't auto sync them

after jailbreaking, you have to sync back everything to your ipod

Even for quickfreedom? Then can you sync the settings from the backup after jailbreaking?

hey guys this friend of mine using windows vista didnt set to compatibility mode while JB-ing using quickfreedom. now his whole comp is unable to function, drivers uninstalled, cant use keyboard/mouse, speaker no sound, cant detect external drives etc. all the software/programs still remain though. any solutions to this? thanks for helping

Yup, that happens quite a lot if your connection isn't really a good one. If you come accross frozen downloads, or errors like "POSIX" and all, don't worry, nothing is messed up.
