Spirit (3rd May 2010)

What's Spirit?
Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)

Requirements
Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
Syncing with iTunes before trying this (highly recommended).

Compatible with Windows and Mac: http://spiritjb.com/

Mac: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=9206
Windows: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=9207

Backup Your SHSH

*
Start from step 5 if you restarted your ipod

QUOTE(rx330 @ Feb 2 2009, 10:13 PM)

After you jailbreak using the tethered method, if you off your ipod touch, you cant on your ipod. you must connect to the computer and run the 1clickboot to boot your ipod touch

Oh, and if i run the clickboot back again, my iPod would be jailbroken back again?

Also, if i wish to install the original firmware back again, all i would need to do is to boot my iPod into DFU mode, connect it to iTunes, and restore my firmware?
*
Yes, connect to itunes, create backup, off it, make it into DFU mode, then restore to the original firmware.

After you jailbroken your ipod touch, use cydia or installer to install apps. I recommmend Cydia.

Err... Tethered means you have to boot from the computer everytime.
Semi-tethered means you can boot your ipod touch without connecting to computer, but all jailbreak app will be disabled(super unstable)
untethered means you dont need to connect to computer to boot, just like ipod touch first gen and iphones.

Now still dont have untethered version jailbreak for ipod touch 2nd gen.

noob here , wat is the benefit jailbreak it ?
*
Enable us to install 3rd party applications that apple doesn't approve to be sold in app store. For example, Backgrounder(run app in background), Winterboard(Change the ipod touch themes), Categories(categorize the apps to a folder), and many more. Dont worry, you can still install app store apps
