i had 1 bricked seagete hdd also,
500gb ST3500320AS, made in china,
but seagate ppl reply said my batch with the serial number (9QM723G6) is not affected.
Dunno what to do now, trying to argue with seagate ppl and see how tmr.

BTW, how much fisherman10 charge for data recovery?
*
why argue? is your hdd still under warranty? if yes, dont need to argue, just tell them your hdd faulty and cannot detect. they will simply RMA it for you without a penny. RMA period would be around 1 or 2 weeks

if its not under warranty, then i dont think there is anything you can do. unless you wanna recover your data which i dont think will be cheap smile.gif

also, why post the same thing 5 times doh.gif

im not sure about pickup and data recover but i dont think there is such service. iinm, WD does offer free pick up at certain places but also no data recover. if you staying in the klang valley region, go to m link system which is located at damasara perdana. go to their website for the map smile.gif

here you go: http://www.mlink.com.my/hop/contact-mlink.php

Wow, I might be the luckiest guy who owns this HDD.
I have the 500GB with the model no ST3500320AS. Bought it in June 2008 and so far, nothing went wrong with it. I started to promote it to my friends since it's a good HDD and it is under warranty for 5 years.

Hi guys

I just got myself a Seagate 7200.11 1.5tb model ST31500341AS with CC1G firmware printed on it. Has anyone experienced any problem or drive failure with this model? I know this model is not listed on the first post but still, I don't want this drive to die on me ohmy.gif

thanks for any replies

Haha, turns out, I'm not so lucky anyway. My Hard disk just died just now, smell like something burning then I stopped the hard disk. Lucky I don't have anything important in that hard disk. I checked online, my hard disk is under 5 years warranty. So where should I send it? Anybody knows?

as if that it will appear in the newspaper that seagate hdd with fw sd15 had problems..

how the hell do we know...

no one realise that there is a problem with firmware SD15, until many hdd starts to fail, this is a major prob that seagate ask user to upgrade the fw.

others are not affected.

Yes, I would consider SD15 a major blip, and the worse was when the original fix caused even more bricking. Thankfully the herculean task of backing up 1.5TB of data out of my 3 HDDs saved me from using the first fix, and ended up with the right one. At the end, there was no problem with those drives afterwards.

Anyway any other drives also will fail, it is just a matter of MTBF. Even my WD ones failed (but thankfully within warranty period)

Heh, this thread is still on after so long. My two 500GB (SD15 updated to SD1A)is still going strong after more than one and the half year.

My WD 1TB Green died 2 weeks ago after few months and I've sent it for RMA. I've used almost all the brands except Samsung and I could say any brand of hard disk is all about luck. Just that SD15 batch is bad. Just get over with it.
