Over a month into the problem Seagate had still not come back to customers with an official solution. Despite the company updating the firmware on newer drives, it has issued no recall on the firmware-defective drives that are still on shop shelves. They must be waiting for some grand event to come and go, say a shareholder meeting?
this is from "The Inquirer".

sad though seeing seagate going down this way doh.gif . I was one of their supporter mainly because their RMA rate is lower than WD. i wonder why after so long (1 month) they still fail to get a solution hmm.gif

now i guess its time to move to WD tongue.gif

btw, TS thanks alot for sharing this notworthy.gif

guys, im having problem with my seagate HDD. the model is ST3500320AS and SD15 firmware. i cant access my files or folder in the drive and when i watch movie from that drive, the movie will suddenly hangs. then when i restart, my drive is not there sad.gif but for some reason it came back again but still it lags whenever i try to access the files in it. worse part is it started to make noises. i cant risk losing my files in it.

is this cause from the firmware thingy or its just my HDD is dying?

should i update the firmware? please guide me though or direct to which link or page to update the firmware icon_question.gif

i had 1 bricked seagete hdd also,
500gb ST3500320AS, made in china,
but seagate ppl reply said my batch with the serial number (9QM723G6) is not affected.
Dunno what to do now, trying to argue with seagate ppl and see how tmr.

BTW, how much fisherman10 charge for data recovery?
*
why argue? is your hdd still under warranty? if yes, dont need to argue, just tell them your hdd faulty and cannot detect. they will simply RMA it for you without a penny. RMA period would be around 1 or 2 weeks

if its not under warranty, then i dont think there is anything you can do. unless you wanna recover your data which i dont think will be cheap smile.gif

also, why post the same thing 5 times doh.gif

sorry lag just now. >.<

still under warranty, my seagate brought 1 yr ago, warranty 5 years.

they reply my email said my serial not affected by the firmware problem, so no free pick-up + data recover service??

see how they reply me tmr, ops..it's today!
*
im not sure about pickup and data recover but i dont think there is such service. iinm, WD does offer free pick up at certain places but also no data recover. if you staying in the klang valley region, go to m link system which is located at damasara perdana. go to their website for the map smile.gif

here you go: http://www.mlink.com.my/hop/contact-mlink.php
