Finished reading: Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas (James Patterson). The diary entries and tone were written plainly and there was some feels toward the end of the diary. Overall story ended on a happy note. A simple and sweet story.

Just finished "The monk who sold his Ferrari"
Got it from a Garage sales, only 200 pages of A7. Stunning to see that most of the modern theory (80/20, Discipline,...) were mentioned in this book from 1997. Reading "Antifragile", anybody did? |

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
I know this duology is so so highly rated, but don't think I share the same sentiment - at least in intensity. It's still pretty good tho. Bardugo seems to know her shit. |

QUOTE(avanpiper @ Oct 14 2016, 09:19 PM) ![]() 4 of 5 stars! This may not be as good as Big Little Lies which is my favorite book from the author but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this. There may not be ground-breaking twists and turns but the author really put so much effort bringing these rich and vivid characters to life. That has always been her strength and she's good at it. I love getting to know the characters and even their daily lives are interesting to explore. The first half of the book is funny (as expected) while the second half gets a bit serious with these little twists surfacing, some of which are expected but some I didn't see coming. Overall, a satisfying read with insight into domestic life, friendship, secrets and more. VERY GOOD BOOK! very simple and easy going story line. |

recently finished Hannibal Lecter series by Thomas Harris and The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss.
Hannibal series is crazy read, just too good and too short, in my opinion. I would love for it to go on and on and on about Lecter but I guess that would take the fun out of him. Kingkiller series, to me, was great at first, but then became quite draggy. |

Just finished 13 Reasons Why, started off nicely but I ended up hating every single characters inside, don't know what's with the hype of this book.
and now I am reading Wrinkle of Time because of the movie trailer and I love to read the books before the movie! This post has been edited by miyakochan89: Feb 1 2018, 02:36 PM |

QUOTE(jess7 @ Jan 25 2018, 11:16 PM) recently finished Hannibal Lecter series by Thomas Harris and The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. The Hannibal series is also on my to-read list. How did you find Harris' writing style? Heavy and needs some digesting, or would you put it as light reading - can't think of a better example but Harry Potter and Dan Brown's novels would be in this category, in which I can easily blaze through the whole book and immerse in the story.Hannibal series is crazy read, just too good and too short, in my opinion. I wouldn't say it was a easy breezy read, but the story flows really well.Yeah, I would put this book with Dan Brown novels, once you start reading, you don't want to put it down till you are at the back cover, wanting for more! |
