4 of 5 stars! thumbsup.gif

This may not be as good as Big Little Lies which is my favorite book from the author but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

There may not be ground-breaking twists and turns but the author really put so much effort bringing these rich and vivid characters to life. That has always been her strength and she's good at it. I love getting to know the characters and even their daily lives are interesting to explore. The first half of the book is funny (as expected) while the second half gets a bit serious with these little twists surfacing, some of which are expected but some I didn't see coming. Overall, a satisfying read with insight into domestic life, friendship, secrets and more.

instead of facebooking or instagram or twitting

and schedule a before-sleep reading time eg 1hour or so

you can read a book a week!

My TBR pile for this month. Finished 4 and currently reading the last book, Faithful Place by Tana French. I highly recommend Tana French if you like crime, police procedural with very engaging protagonist. Her Dublin Murder Squad series (so far 6 books) is pretty good. I've read 2 so far and really liked The Likeness. Her most recent The Trespasser is not bad too. Her prose and writing style in general is very introspective with lots of rich and vivid details.

My ratings for recently read books:

Watching Edie - 4/5
The Trespasser - 4.5/5

I've recently got off a novel-reading binge. Stopped at Stephen King's The Dark Tower series book 3, The Waste Lands. Now getting back to manga and consuming anything from Tsutomu Nihei that I can find.

It took a while for me to get used to his writing, they're very literary, full of metaphors but rich details. I had to imagine a lot too. The short chapters are good as the story skips from one character to another. The two main characters, one of which is a blind girl, are very lovable and I got emotionally attached from beginning. I really like the way the author describes the life of the blind girl, her relationship with the father and how she copes with being blind, especially in a war-torn country. The other character, Werner is a German teenager recruited to the army but he's conflicted by the purpose of the war. Ending broke me. Highly recommended. No wonder the book won Pulitzer Prize.

I usually get mine from either Kinokuniya (my favorite because they have a LARGE collection) or Borders since I'm a member of both.

Hi! I finished read Saving Grace by Jane Green last week. Rate 4/5. Brief summary: Dealing with self expectations and taking the next step. The interesting part is there are recipes in this book as the main character finds comfort in cooking.

Now reading Make a Christmas wish by Julia Williams.

I get my books mostly from the Big Bad Wolf Books Sale. Also, there's a KL Book Exchange activity on every 1st Sunday of the month. Can search on Facebook. A good way to exchange your read book with a new read.

Just finished this. Devoured the final 100 pages because the twist and unraveling truth really took me by surprise. As a mystery/thriller fan, I always like it when authors manage to trick me. The different POVs are great too. Love, betrayal, obsession and psychosis.

Simply amazing likes the drama, only some minor detail that be shown while the drama did not. smile.gif

Reading "For one more day" by Mitch Albom to change my mood a bit after a long twisted story smile.gif

So, I have finished "For one more day" by Mitch Albom. Seriously, everyone should read this book if haven't, this book is just simply easy to read, a book to slaps on your mind on whatever you have/had/haven't done, it might makes you feel guilty somehow because the story is very surreal smile.gif The book wasn't really thick, it could be finished within one week or even less than that, hehe nod.gif

Now, I am starting another book which my friend lent to me also. It's "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman. It has a very unique cover as well, haha xD

finished the 1st to 6th books from the Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer.

1. Only Time Will Tell
2. The Sins of the Father
3. Best Kept Secret
4. Be Careful What You Wish For
5. Mightier Than the Sword
6. Cometh the Hour

whoever likes Jeffrey Archer's books or enjoys thrillers should definitely read this series. took me average 2 days to finish one novel because they are just too unputdownable!

the 7th book "This Was a Man" is released but the hardcover is costing a bomb in bookstores hence i have not bought them yet. am waiting for the paperback. and seriously i cannot wait to finish them!

I read a few of Tana French's books from the series. I think Broken Harbour was the one that really sent chills down my spine. Not very plot-heavy, but the atmosphere was well-written.

Finished "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman, it was an interesting classic comedy, those dialogues from the book are gold, definitely worth to read!

Next book will be the Chinese version of The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan.
(I do collect/read both version of books because I personally think that different translation will bring out a different types of feel due to the words using)
