Haih... I have great ideas about how I could use the Camera button and the Vol Up Down buttons as shortcuts... BUT Magic Key is refusing to work on the 5800... Anybody face the same problem?

Or is it just a problem here... sweat.gif

BTW... Handwave is sweet, if ultimately useless... brows.gif

Do note that if you enter a tunnel and lose fix, when you come out, it's another RM0.05 gone again. biggrin.gif

Oh I have done the "hard reset" already but I still get the same result. Instead I have to put my contacts in all over again, not to mention the personalised settings. T_T

Added on January 19, 2009, 9:46 amI have read the first page already...still no cure. Unless u tell me that hard reset is the way to solve the problem.....

This is very true indeed. Majority of people wouldn't bother to read the manual either is due to the usage to be very similar (perhaps owned a Nokia phone before) or gets too excited with the new phone and just starts to play with it. laugh.gif

He's right you know. You can't get a fix unless you are in the open or at least near a window. GPS signals are in the microwave range of the entire electromagnetic spectrum and you need reasonable direct line of sight. It will not propagate well in enclosed areas and it will not work if you are in the middle of the city with tall buildings due to reflection and multipaths. Reason is simple, the Nokia 5800's GPS chip like any other phones with GPS is not sensitive enough due to battery consumption considerations.

To improve the satellite thing is subjective. The very first time you attempt a fix it will be slow because your phone has no present data of satellite positions at that moment in time. After that, your phone should keep a log of these data and your time to fix will be reduced. So just wait lor. Best is to give it 5 minutes before starting to use it.

If you are expecting time to fix in the seconds, perhaps you should be looking at real GPS navigation devices. Or you can pair your phone with a bluetooth GPS receiver. I had a Holux which can get a fix in just 40 seconds (cold start).

Man David. You really pro sia notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif , eveything you also know and can explain out the theory/concept of how it works.
For me I'll just answer GPS hard to lock on indoor becoz the signal not strong enough.
