I was reading a review on 5800 and I came across: QUOTE Voice dialing is an option with the 5800 as with mostly any other phone. The voice dialing mode is activated once you press and hold the Call key. It is fully speaker-independent and doesn't require prerecording the names of your contacts. Bear in mind though, that if you have multiple numbers assigned to a contact, the first or the default one gets dialed. So what does this mean ? There is no way to select the other numbers assigned to a contact ?

I'm actually considering 3 phones at the moment, either this 5800, SonyEricsson c902 and c905. However, the c905 seems to be out of my budget already so it is now down to the 5800 and c902. If I don't care much about the camera's performance then the 5800 seems to be a better buy right ?

Attention to all 5800 users who are using the animated userbar, the file size exceeded 70kB and it is not appropriate to use according to the rules and regulations for signatures. It is best to use another userbar before your signature gets reported and nuked by a moderator.

Very true indeed, the dedicated 3D engine in it does help a lot especially if there are a lot of graphics involved.

QUOTE(borgkye @ Jan 18 2009, 08:34 PM) I'm not sure if all are in mono but i've downloaded 5 songs and all are in mono. So i assume all are the same Perhaps this is their marketing gimmick, a 1000 songs free sounds too good to be true huh ?

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Jan 18 2009, 08:45 PM) But the specs in Nokia's website said the 5800 has a 3D engine. I check for phone specs in GSMArena and it isn't stated that the 5800 has a 3D accelerator.

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Jan 18 2009, 08:51 PM) No 3D chip... Just a TI OMAP graphics co-processor (forgot the name) that handles video acceleration... Main reason why them XVIDs can play at high resos smoothly on Realplayer (and NOT on Coreplayer/Smartmovie)... And not sure if the 5800 would be included in the future for ngage (no definite NO from Nokia yet), but it's really no fun with no hardware keys now, isn't it? That's true, it wouldn't be much fun without the gaming keys.

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Jan 18 2009, 08:59 PM) What we need is more Touch-based games... Case in question: Galcon (an iphone version exists already) http://www.imitationpickles.org/galcon/index.htmlGames that will make use of the accelerometer would be fun too.

QUOTE(zackloy @ Jan 19 2009, 12:44 AM) I'll try that but then I'll have to do it one by one...any shortcuts? Problem was I transferred over my contacts from my SE and I don't think it was smart enough to update the birthdays automatically. I think if you were to transfer contacts from a phone that is a different brand, only the phone number will be transferred. In my opinion, even if you transfer contacts from a S40 phone to S60, it would only transfer the phone number as well.

QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Jan 19 2009, 10:27 AM) lol i dun read manuals either self exploring the phone is more fun This is very true indeed. Majority of people wouldn't bother to read the manual either is due to the usage to be very similar (perhaps owned a Nokia phone before) or gets too excited with the new phone and just starts to play with it.

QUOTE(Duckies @ Jan 19 2009, 11:30 AM) Wouldn't it be very troublesome to type a message?U hav to type 1 by 1 using ur finger or pen. Well you can say it this way. Even iPhone users have to live with it but it wouldn't be much fuss once you are used to it. However, typing messages through a touch screen can be a problem if you have to type it while you are driving because you will have to be looking at the screen or else there might be a typo in it.

QUOTE(Apis_LuaLua @ Jan 19 2009, 11:36 AM) not for me at least.. i m now can type without looking at screen using that virtual keypad.. of course with vibrate touch (u know what i mean) is enable. If I use any touch screen gadgets, I will be having some trouble typing messages as my fingers are fat. Well, the vibration does come in handy so it does gives you a response at least when you touch it.

QUOTE(vyzc @ Jan 19 2009, 02:53 PM) RM1250 seems to be the cheapest price for an original set right now : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/820112Prices of AP sets do not differ much from the original sets.. Perhaps this is why most people are getting authorized sets these days. Save all the hassle and have a peace of mind just by paying a small extra amount.
