About the GPS security, anyone can explain too??

I'll explain on GPS security then.
CAPTOR is one of the best GPS security system you can find in Malaysia. They're running on 2 frequencies. One is RF (Radio Frequency) and GPS/GSM. If you subscribe to both, they'll use one of them (whichever is stronger signal). If RF is no longer available, they'll switch to GPS/GSM network, and vice versa. For GPS/GSM network, they're using Digi, and you'll be given a Digi simcard to insert into the GPS security system.

When theft incident happens, you need to contact them to locate your car. DO NOT tell the thieves/robbers that you've CAPTOR because this will give them a chance to disable/unplug. CAPTOR will work together with police force to recover your car. The chance of recovering your car is around 90% (according to them), but they don't guarantee of vandalism, arson, etc.

PPS is one of several brands of paint protection that's available in the market. Others I can think of is DiamondBrite, which costs a lot more expensive than PPS at abtRM1.5-2K for initial treatment. PPS goes for RM700 for Honda City.

Basically, it's a paint sealant (Teflon) that is applied on top of your car's clear coat. This slippery substance will provide protection to the paint by being resistant to the the sun's UV rays to prevent fading and also minimise damage due to acid rain, bird droppings. It also makes cleaning your car easier as dust and road tar is easily rinsed off the paint.

Remember, you only have ONE clear coat on your paint and once it's damaged, the damage will extend itself deeper into the paint if care is not given to the paint. PPS (or any other form of paint sealant) offers you another layer of protection for the car's paint and gives it a showroom shine that lasts longer than conventional wax. Waxes will melt in our Malaysian climate in a few weeks, polish will eat into your paint, one micron at a time. Paint protection systems help the car look great in years to come.

This is a pros and cons question but I'll try to explain your options :

Pro :
- provides protection for intruders (snatch theives/hijackers) by creating a barrier between you and the intruder. Buys you time to drive away and escape.
- in case of accident, the film will hold the glass pieces, preventing it from spraying in your face (also true of solar tinting films)

Cons
- if in case of accident and the door is jammed, it will take a little bit more effort to get out.
- while thicker is better protection but too thick will result in your power window motor working harder to open and shut your window. Might also scratch the film as the fit is too tight.

Security films are not unbreakable. They are high tensile polymer films that can withstand higher forces. It will still break but it takes between 10-20 hits from a baseball bat before it fails. This is the TIME you are buying for yourself in case of an attack.

Decide for yourself, which is more likely to happen to you and make your choice. My money goes to the security film...for protection.

Don't worry, my friend. Security films only work on blunt objects, like helmet, baseball bats, bricks, etc.
If you take a screwdriver and knock, it'll still break. smile.gif

Security film won't prevent people from breaking into your car but will definately will help you when you are robbed/ assaulted. Gives you that extra protection.

Yes, not much good cars over there because of uneven roads. Road tax is cheaper also. smile.gif
And the best car I saw is CBU Toyota Wish 2.0. No more others.

Based on my observation for the NHC on highway.

- It's got adequete power and good acceleration
- It looks very nice in the rearview mirror (front) but not so nice when you view it from the back.
- It's got a nice side profile as well
- It seems a little wobbly when passing buses and lorries.
- Doing 150km/hr isn't a problem, just can't imagine that it would be very comfortable at that speed though
- Drivers are all S spec
*
Saw 1 ASM and it happens that we're going to the same place therefore I had around 20 minutes to observe.

First of all IMO the color doesn't really stand out. Secondly I agree with zweimmk that the car is a bit wobbly like wiggling but the speed of the car is around 100 ~ 110 km/h only. I mean it doesn't look rock solid and stable somehow WAJA look more solid and stable.

Third thing is it looks nice from the front but the rear is rather small in width (didn't felt this in showroom). Again if compare with WAJA somehow WAJA look bigger in width don't know because of the design or what.

Fourth comparison is between BMW 3 series and NHC. I saw them side by side from rear view and it's 90% the same while BMW 3 series having more elegant and soft designed lines and NHC is rather hard and sharp designed lines.

Guys please don't flame me or pinpointing about WAJA I'm just simply taking a car as an example no offence.

QUOTE(W.ROOK @ Jan 31 2009, 02:54 PM)
Earlier in the forum someone recommended T-Rex(steering lock with an alarm).
I might buy one of this. A little bit pricey but looks promising. Will get more info before purchase one.
Probably it wont be as good as the captor but it is transferable and does not require wiring installation. On top of that this
T-Rex might solve our "muted" alarm problem.!

Watch the video here: [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2Xy5mRooDg&eurl=http://www.megacell.com.my/index.asp&feature=player_embedded]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2Xy5mRooDg...player_embedded

*
W.ROOK, how much is the T-Rex again? I had just watch the video it seems reliable my only comment is the LCD display and the sound is rather childish alike like gaming sound doh.gif I'm not sure how loud is the 120db sound though but it certainly doesn't sound like an alarm.

if you have seen the demo video for security tint type video, they will always start breaking it with hard object like helmet, brick etc, and not sharp object like screwdriver or etc.
i believe this info will same goes to the thieves as well, i wonder they will straight away break the glass and use screwdriver to poke in.

About the "PPS", thanks to foocy2001 for explaining,
i think i don;t really care about the paint, only lazy to do the polishing and waxing all the time, if i got time to wash the car already consider very good, hahaha laugh.gif
so really wish that the car will always keep the shining look. for PPS, what i got to know now is the www.shinenshield.com, which used by few of our forumer here, does this mean this will be the best already? i think i will be go for that too.. if you are one of the user.... please do some review here

after all the post read, found few things that need to do once i got the car.

1. will do the security tinted RM1500 (mostly will go for Ecotint if no other best recommend anymore) Not voiding warranty
2. will do PPS RM600(mostly will go for shinenshield if no other best recommend anymore)Not voiding warranty
3. will do the auto-central locking RM130 as said by one of the forumer here (should be the best choice so far) Voiding warranty for central lock i think.
above is must do within 1 month, so will cost me around RM2300
below is after 3 - 6 month
4. will do body kits modulo or other available around RM2000
5. changing the rims around RM2000+-

after 12month, i think i will start doing some internal mod due to some lack of the performance of this car.

what do you all think??
please comment.

You're most welcome. I once inquired for the system because I'm too interested to fix in my new car. They said if you take both at one time, the installation price will be RM4000. If you take either one, it'll cost RM2500, if not mistaken. Monthly fee will be at around RM200 for both. Installation will take one full day. Before installation, they need to see your car first because different car, they'll fix in different position. This is to drag/delay thieves/robbers time to search for the system. One day when I go up to KL, I'll visit their HQ and get more information from them before briefing more.

Yes, it's really worth it to install. Thieves/robbers are around us. Even this will prevent car hijackers too. If you prioritise security as your main one, then this is a good beginning step to start with.

For security film, yes, security film indeed useful for blunt objects. Most of the thieves/mat rempits whack your car windows with helmet on stop-to-go junction. That's how you're protected with. Even for car accidents, the pieces of glass will not fly all over, thus minimise passengers' injuries. It'll be like the whole piece of window drop out instead of small pieces of glass.

Yes, this will depend on your luck too. If this really happens, then we got no choice too, but well, it's better be safe than sorry. Nothing is perfect.
