New E71 user reporting in.  rclxms.gif

I have a question. Every time i connect the phone to my laptop for either data transfer or synchronization the phone doesnt detect the memory card after i unplug the usb. I have to restart the phone every time i use the usb cable so the phone recognize the mc. So my question is after u are done using the usb do you just unplug or u have to do some software shutdown which i didnt do. Very annoying ler.

Hope all the veteran users can enlighten me on this one.

Thanks yall.

Go to Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Genaral -> Positioning -> Positioning Server

Check if your access point is still defined. I updated mine and the access point is gone. I redefine it and it works again

What if you go to Tools -> Settings ->General -> Positioning -> Positioning Methods. Is Assisted GPS has a tick?
If it is already ticked, can you surf net using the access point you defined?
If both also yes, then I really dono wat happen.

Maybe reformat both the phone and memory card and start all over instead of a restore?

And with the new firmware update, it even smoother and faster than before. Even my garmin can lock in less then 10 sec nowadays thanks to the new firmware smile.gif

Hmm... 5800 XM has a non-hardware keyboard, and I believe this can't be compared to a actual QWERTY?

i had that problem before try rub the metal part of the micro sd card.

Added on January 26, 2009, 11:14 am

Oh.. its not the memory card thats causing the problem. Its when i use the usb cable to connect to my laptop. Happens after i unplug the usb, the phone stops recognizing the memory card. The card is working fine. I tried a few cards already but still the same thing. So i want to know what steps you guys take after u use the Usb cable. Do you just unplug the cable or is there a shutdown protocol to do before u remove the cable.

Thanks anyways.

Both are very different phones with 5800 having a non physical querty, you cant differenciate as 5800 is a full touch screen with software accelerated querty.

Thanks!!! That was the problem after all. I guess i need to switch the 'memory in use' to phone memory before i connect the cable the next time. Thanks you're a saint.

Hi Guys ... n Gals,

new E71 user reporting in.
bought mine about 2 weeks ago
Avaxx Grey Steel

Updated to latest firmware 200.21.118 on the day i got it.

recently encountered once in a while will get "menu freeze" as in all other functions works but when i press the home or menu button, the interface won't appear until i restart the phone. happened only when i installed opera mini via wifi; so i just uninstalled it and so far it's been ok for a day (i hope).

hoping some sifu's can explain a bit about this irregularity.
