Yes, most of the processors are very expensive as it is for higher end market. Onkyo 5507 is about RM10K.

Cheapest processor that I know of is Emo UMC-1 : USD699

SO the best solution is to get a new dedicated Denon AVR with HD Audio support. Or maybe using a standalone BD player to decode the HD signal & send as multi-channel in to your Amp

Does your 3805 have inputs to accept the pre-outs from the UMC-1? If so, I reckon it can be done.

From this picture it show the 3805 have 7.1 ext inputs so that means it can be use as an amp?

I think it can be done since you have the EXT IN. It would be similar to hooking up a BDP to the EXT IN and having the BDP do the decoding.

But I won't want to buy a bluray player as I don't have any bluray disc.

I'm not suggesting that you buy a BDP. I was saying that the hook up to a pre-amp is similar to the hook up to a BDP (which is capable of decoding).

I wonder if EXT-IN, for SW channel means it can do bass management? or just pass thro to SW out?

Bass signal (LFE) from BDP 5.1 output is pure, bass management is done by receiver acting as pre-amp to subwoofer. Pre-amp means control centre in which pre-outs are managed by its volume control

Don't know. But I would turn off all processing in the 3805, set all trims to 0, etc. Then let the new pre-amp (whether it is UMC-1 or something else) do all the bass management, Audyssey, etc.

I will wait for more reviews of the UMC-1 before i decide. So far no reviews yet as it is still too new.

try disconnect all speakers and turn the AVR on, see whether it turn to protect mode. If it does, AVR needs repair. but if it doesn't, it must be speaker problem (cabling or speaker short circuit). Low speakers impedance may also result AVR turn to protect mode

Emo is trying to fix bugs in its UMC-1 with a new firmware. So, I think there might be a delay in review.
