Bro, firmware is normally to rectify some issues. Your AVR-3805 is dated and it won't have any upgrade esp for HD Audio, which is basically about HDMI 1.3a compliant AV receiver. Time to get a new AVR 

I knew. I owned Denon AVR2802 before. It was really a joy but the pricing for current Denon just make it out of my reach.

AVR3808 sld be near RM6K region since AVR2809 is abt RM4.8K

If you are planning to use PS3 to stream HD audio, then it should not be a problem coz it can decodes itself and transfer as multichannel to your old AVR. This way you are still get those HD audio signal.

But if plan to hook it up BD standalone player or Dvico HD media player, then I think should upgrade to HD support AVR, at very least is AVR-1909. Like they say, HD Audio compare to core audio is a huge difference even on a budget speaker set-up. Those hi-def sound will be much felt compare to HD-Audio which depends on your sitting distance or sizes of your HDTV to make a difference.

I think HTkaki should be able to comment on this as his Yammy Amp is frequently light up those Magical words feeds from Dvico.

Me too.....very tempted to get my AVR to read those Magical words out of its large LCD panel at front. Thats why I say now hands get itchy to get the Tvix Dvico 6500 to stream the HD-Audio like what HTkaki is doing.....upgrade from WDTV. But at this moment, the 6500 is way too expensive. I am damn sure its price will dips sooner or later. Other than that, it is a joy to enjoy my WDTV feed to my Denon AVR-1909.

Anyway, you have to start collecting those un-touched BD ripped with HD-Audio around 30gbs at least. When ready, just grab the Dvico couple with HD support AVR, this is what I called TrueHD movie experience with those countless sources in your video library................

I like my 1800. Wont be changing it to Marantz.

I prefer BD Rips. Still have a bunch of mkv in my collection. At the moment, 3.2TB of these. Probably need to get 5TB more.

if u compare the price in Msia, denon is the cheapest compared to Marantz 5003,onky606 and yamaha 863 and pioneer 1018....(i group them in same range)

if new model come out, all will be 3k starting point again and u will wait until 2k+....by the time the price to 1k+, another new model will come out....a cycle....

for me BLU Ray is not affordable yet, hopefully it will drop to 15-20 bucks (fake bluray..now RM45) at least my amp would be to decode it.....but at that time some new tech will emerged...

moral of the story....it will never end...

(1) remove the existing cable / connection bar that connects your top and bottom terminals on your speakers
(2) connect the top pair of the speakers' terminals to "Front A" on your avr.
(3) connect the lower pair of the speakers' terminals to "Surround Back" of your avr.
(4) now assign the "Surround Back" amplifier to the front speakers. Not sure how your menu looks like on the 3805. Basically, go to "Option Set Up" and then "Power Amp Assign". Select "Front A" so that the surround back amplifier will replicate the output of the front A.

Yes, most of the processors are very expensive as it is for higher end market. Onkyo 5507 is about RM10K.
