Hi, to get 7.1 or 5.1 audio through your 1709 you would need a BD player that can output 5.1/7.1 via analogue outputs (e.g. the Panny BD80 among others). I assume the 1709 can accept 5.1/7.1 analogue input. It is not necessary to be only via HDMI.

QUOTE(sshahed @ Jul 4 2009, 07:33 PM) I am not sure if I understand what you mean by analogue input. Is it coaxial input you are referring to? Look at picture below of the 1709 rear section. See those 8 inputs in the "EXT IN" section? That's where you plug into. Anyway, I see the 1709 has HDMI input but you say it doesn't support audio over HDMI? QUOTE(zerorulez @ Jul 4 2009, 11:28 PM) I think sshahed said HD Audio la JC.. DTS-HD MA, DD-TrueHD not supported on the 1709. 1909 and above only got. Ah I missed that sentence. Yeah, too bad the 1709 doesn't decode the lossless HD audio. In that case he needs a BDP that can do such decoding.

Well if PS3 supports 7.1 via HDMI, then hookup your PS3 to your 1709 using HDMI and problem solved right?

QUOTE(zerorulez @ Jul 7 2009, 09:33 AM) i thought all BD comes with 7.1 Audio meh? No, majority are 5.1. I think some of the newer titles are coming out with 7.1 (but not all).

I'm in agreement with anfieldude. While the BR2 could handle down to 42Hz, the output and quality of bass at 42Hz (or even up to 80Hz) could be better with the sub. I say 'could' because it also depends on your sub.
Anyway, this is one area where you have to experiment and tailor the settings to your liking. That's why sub & speaker integration are important.

QUOTE(robinlim @ Jul 29 2009, 02:03 PM) anyway, my concern between 2809 and 3310 is solely based on pricing 3310 China made same price/more expensive than 2809 Japan made? Bear in mind that famous economic saying, "charge what the market will bear". You will find that the selling price of an item has very little relation to where it was made.
