As the article has written, the main problem might not be heat related. But it's all due to the solder that is used to connect the GPU die to the GPU substrate and not the solder than connects the substrate to the motherboard.

Having better cooling might not solve the issue entirely although it might prolong the life of the console by a margin. They need to replace the solder with eutectic ones.

So in conclusion, if this piece of news is true, which it might be anyway considering the previous revisions still fail on you no matter what you do. Jasper will still suffer the Red Rings if they did not change the type of solder they are using previously.

Anyway it's still a rumour after all. Let's just sit back and see how it goes.

that one is not true boss, cause this thing I can confirm, they will only give you back what is yours.

if your set is jasper, they will give back you jasper. cause RMA thats how it works in Singapore.

I believe it was just an honest mistake since some people on the net (in foreign forums, and I believe some sites did pick up the story) did say that those 60GB sets from certain dates are Jasper.

eh djinn, what's the longest survival rate of the xenon/zephyrs that you have so far?

Well, For Xenon model I think mostly there are all 100 percent ... well... dead.

as for the zepyhrs.. they are quite a handful still surviving... but lately this month. I got a bunch of them doing RMA and repairs.

Falcon have a few as well.. revision 1.. not revision 2.

Zephyrs.. the longest I have is.. well.. 2 years..

Guess what? My friend still has a surviving Xenon, bought from you (along with me and another friend, both of us 3ROD already) way back in Dec 2006. Not even signs of 3ROD. But he rarely plays the console, even when he does it'd only be about 1 hour max.
Oh and he's still using the default dashboard.

i have xenons, still alive n kickin..i seldom plays it..only plays around 1- 2 hour max per day..i even updated it with the NXE, smooth sailing til now..

wah ur xenon really surviving that long im amazed for me playing for 1hour max i canot la i need at least 6-8hours of pleasurable gaming heheheh

now i'm using it to play thrash game since it was modded and banned from live.

my falcon are unmodded, used it to play original and to update my profile as well games update.

my xenon (M.Date = june'06) lasted ~2 years with minimal gaming. after NXE, then it 3RL (0102). so send to bernard for x-clamp fix. hope can tahan a few more months ..... for jasper next year

My friend's Xenon is a virgin, not even a single dashboard update!
And no hangs, dvd drive failure, etc.

I bought mine at Dec 06 also, until now still alive at kickin. Only when open console need warmup if too long time no play.
