Then I don't know lo, what I know is in Crysis/Warhead there is this graphic feature. Well if you aren't refering to that, better pray it is just software rather than hardware problem.

Guys, I'm using a stock 4870 card and was thinking of getting a third party VGA cooler.
Can anyone recommend me one that's cheap, good, reliable and compatible with my 4870?
Getting tired of the LOUD fan noise from turning the fan speed above 35% already.

well indeed.
temperature nvr go above 45 even after hours of crysis @ max setting. (100% fan speed)
u can barely hear the fan & 100%.

30% will keep the card @ 35 - 40c during idle.

Above 80C is considered danger..Try to keep it below 80C on LOAD.

any way to cool it down besides turning fan to 100%??

Ok guys, once again, Gainward 4850 GS is NOT the same as Palit 4850 Sonic. Gainward 4850 GS use a different cooler and has faster factory-overclocked core and mem speed.

I used the DVI to VGA converter and switch it back to VGA and I could use 1440 x 900 resolution now

My temperature for my 4870 Sapphire 512gb is around 51-57, idle-load. My speed of fan is set to 35%.

Is that alright?

you can try to add 120mm fan that blows directly to ur gpu.

i forgot which thread got picture of it...

the idle temp sound right for 4850, no worries
