Might try Palit 4850 Sonic and OC to 4850 GS's clock as well. Since I've heard that Palit is cheaper but clocked lower. Same PCB so it should be able to do the same thing.

Nope, Different stock clock. Can't recall the exact figure, memory was 1000 vs 1100. But the core.. I think it was 680 vs 700?

tellmewhy, have you even stressed your CPU and RAM to ensure it is rock solid? 5 runs of IBT is not enough. 50 would be a good run. And do a max stressing using all your available RAM in diagnostic mode.

Monitor blinking means what?
Your system restart due to instability? If that's the answer, then you have already found your problem to your BSOD. |

CoreAVC is totally software based but efficient. My old P4 3.0GHz also can run 720p only at about 10% CPU load

400W true power? Pretty much pushing your luck but it might run. I forgot the exact setup, but the 4850 system uses lesser than 300W during load on a bare minimum system. That system was on C2D though.
But, better to upgrade your PSU |

Temperature shooting up to ungodly number doesn't depend on the PSU, but the HSF and your case airflow instead.

Actually can... The manufacturer can just change it, but ATi allowed already? If this card actually exist, then that 4850 is going to be another 4870's rival..
