With your budget you can get an entry level DSLR or a superb prosumer.

If you're willing to start off into the DSLR world, get a Canon EOS 1000D or a Nikon D60.

If you want an all-rounder prosumer, get the Panasonic Lumix LX3. RM1.7k (around there).

If you want a superzoom camera, get the Panasonic Lumix FZ28.

If you ask me, I'll go for the LX3 as it is the best prosumer camera you can get and you can learn lots from its superb image quality. Once you get the hang of it then get a DSLR and move on - then the LX3 can become your secondary camera.

as my advise is u dont have to wait till pc fair cause camera is not like computer stuff as they wont decrease the price easily.

even some of the price will rise up due to currency exchange.

even the most on pc fair, all the big name will only throw in abit more free gift but u wont saw any big different with the nett price that u ask in normal day.btw,pc fair is mainly for computer stuff u wont saw alot of camera shop participate,so u cant compare the price between booth

Search in Lowyat for deals, but in my opinion YL Camera in Pudu gives a great price.

I'd recommend getting the Ixus 8xx - I have no product knowledge of it though.

External flash is RM450 (at least) for the Di622, and since you aren't into DSLRs yet, I'd suggest you learn how to make full use of a PnS/prosumer.

Forget Sony, hopeless for good quality shots.

Get the Panasonic Lumix LX3. Best for your budget.

powershot series is one of the better cam.
i think you need to learn to use the camera before blaming it.
indoor night shot you need to use the scn mode and set it to night.
if set to auto you will see only the subject and no back ground.
try out those scn mode and you will see a big diff in your pic nod.gif

which lumix you are talking about?
if it's lx3 then it's considered a compact camera.
go touch it n feel it instead of judging from pictures.
it's not as compact as ultra compact cameras la but still decent
it's considered prosumer compact camera

it has built in flash actually

It is considered small for such a powerful camera.

It works just like a normal PnS but with much more capabilities. Much much more.

You won't regret getting it.

Should be around RM1.6-1.7k. I'm not too sure so you will need to do some research around.

Good luck scoring your deal.

thanks for the input, but i dont use scn mode, or any auto mode, with my powershots, i only use manual for indoor shots, for the general comment im comparing powershot with my old
film dslr of course hahaa, not blaming it, it does serve my needs for 2 years + liao, and i love it, but i want something new and better replacement.

yet i have dont wanna carry a bulky digital dslr when going clubbing or party or any indoor even, a smaller digicam is what i aiming for,
i want something with more felxibility on manual mode for indoor shots, the powershot i got is kindda limited, its external flash is hard to find, sad.gif
plus budget budget, dont wanna overspend ,still gots lots of stuff to buy. wink.gif

so i have to rephrase again, guys,
can anyone recommend me a budget Rm1k to 1.5k digicam that have above everage adjustments to support greater more natural indoor shots?

my current choice so far is Panasonic Lumix LX3 or newer powershot series, as mine is 2 years old , very slow on reload shots.

thanks in advance.

The LX3 will be your best choice then. Nothing can beat it in the prosumer category.

Ever thought of using Canon G10 with external flash like 430EX? (I've tried it with 580EXII, a bit overkill lol)
It will bring your compact camera photographing experience into a new stage. laugh.gif
You will also learn to know why external flash is so vital under low light condition, until most DSLR user will put ext. flash on priority purchase if they shoot a lot under lowlight + indoor.

But that is if you are willing to fork out that 1k for the flash and bringing extra weight out..

actually both are very good and capable camera.
depends on what you need it for.
if ultra compact and stylist, then cant go wrong with ixus
dont mind the size then powershot - that's why it's cheaper wink.gif

go to canon sales center and test /molest whistling.gif
see which one you like better icon_rolleyes.gif
