wow with 1500 budget you can get a really decent compact camera.
ixy 850 n 860 are old model and very hard to find.
replaced by 870 which is quite good.
9xx series dont have wide angle i think.
or you can top up to 1700 to get a Lumix LX3 but you get shorter zoom
but the image quality is thumbup.gif
you get some manual mode too if you want to explore more into photography

TheWandererX and DecaPix.

Thank you both for your input wink.gif

As both suggested Lumix LX3, I shall check it out. Okay, maybe i over-emphasized on picture quality. I mean, like 10mp is ok already, for me. I need a user friendly one too. Not like some that has too many hidden functions, and I have to take a few months to explore habis.

I've narrowed down my search to ixus 970is 870is and lumix lx3.

Any other suggestions, my fellow LYNs?

Hi,

i'm planning to buy a digital camera (semi pro / compact ) for my work as i'm a graphic designer who always need some pictures as references
i'm interested in this 3 model :-
a) Panasonic LX-3
b) Panasonic FZ-18
c) Ricoh R10 (not sure what is the price for this because my friend recommend me to check on Ricoh product which has a very good feedback, even better than LX-3)

can someone tell me what is the price for these cameras?
and which one is better ( color is the most i concern about )
or maybe pro n cons?

thanks a lots for the help rclxms.gif

The LX3 will suit you best - unprecedented image quality.

About the Ricoh, I'm not convinced - it isn't a very popular brand so you might encounter some difficulty when you have problems with it.

I have no product knowledge of the Ricoh so Google a bit around and see what pops up. Apologies as I don't have access to a computer as of now, therefore I can't help you to source out reviews.

Good luck making your choice.

Hey,

I'd like to purchase a digital camera for normal use, preferably at pocket size. I've noticed Canon Digital Ixus 85. Can anyone tell me what price could it be? Or any other recommendation of camera below RM1000?

Thnx!

No use getting a superzoom - you'll DEFINITELY upgrade later on. If you're convinced on getting a superzoom, then get the Olympus SP565UZ. Sony PnS&prosumer ranges are more for style, not performance.

If you want to get a DSLR, then get a 1000D/D60/a200, these two should satisfy your entry-level needs until you upgrade.

If you're thinking of upgrading lenses, in the long run Nikon D60/Canon EOS 1000D will suit you best as there's so many lenses to choose from, you'll have a hard time making your decision on which one to get wink.gif

Somehow if you are prepared to carry a prosumer, might as well go with the A200/300.  Only thing is that the H50 is still slightly smaller lar ...  tongue.gif Oh, of course, the "hassle" of maintenance once you start to exchange lens, this and that accessories and blah blah blah ... it can get expensive  whistling.gif  whistling.gif

Not too sure about that, but I think so.

Try dropping by the Sony Alpha thread and ask the guys there, they should be able to assist you with the price - maybe even a good place to get a great deal.

Good luck bro.

hey guys, i thought of posting here since i can't locate any threads about SLR cameras.

i'm currently looking for a Canon SLR camera. Canon AE-1 to be exact. Any idea which shop that carries a wide range of SLR cameras or even better, has this particular model for sale?

The FZ-28 is closest to best PQ in your choices, the others generally lose out.

It's about Rm1400 I think. Not really sure - you should do your own research to find out. Sorry, a bit pressed on time.

Um, would you mind using the template on the first page? It's far easier to know what you want from your digi cam.

Anyway, Sony digital point-and-shoots suck. Big time. Style with no performance.

Some people prefer style over performance. T series is touchscreen and is more towards entertainment, than serious photography. I got lots of girl friends who have those. Its more of an entertainment gadget. Even the colour scheme suggests that, with the colours varying from red to pink to green and blue smile.gif

If you have a big pocket to spend, then get the Panasonic Lumix LX3. If you don't have 1.6-1.7k to spend, would you mind to use the template provided? It'll give us an idea of what to recommend.

Sony caters for style only - that is why we never recommend it to anyone looking to make the most bang for the buck. I have to admit though, their design is good. That is the only thing I like about Sony point and shoot cameras.
