Good choice there.
but depends on want a really compact n nice looking camera or a bigger but cheaper camera
both are quite good camera.
just go test it out..which one feels nicer then buy!

For IQ the Olympus obviously wins - Sony is a poor performer in the PnS category.

D90 has movie mode (if I'm not wrong), but I don't think it's THAT practical.

50D has really good high ISO performance (clarified with tytons, saw his superb control of high ISO with a 50D).

No idea how to choose between the both, but if you ask me, I've planted my roots in Canon and L, so I'd go for the 50D.

i would say D90 because it's value for money
it's cheaper than 50D

can always go try out in the shop and see which one you prefer
if you have more frens using either one then you can "loan" their lens!

i went to few cam shops already. in terms of settings, i used to canon and manage to change settings quickly.. while for D90 i need to keep looking at the lcd panel for the settings

but somehow i feel 50D is not too ergonomic in my hand. i feel good with D90 more.

with 6k, i can get d90 body, battery grip, extra lens .. (i already have sb800)

while for 50D, i can only get either 50D kit lens with 18-200, or 50D with kit lens 18-55 and speed light .. hmm

Because the 50D is good =)

What you pay for is what you get. Remember that - you won't get a Ferrari by paying RM20k.

- Canon EOS 40D body (RM27xx)
- Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 (RM13xx)
- Canon BG-E2n (RM5xx)
- Canon 580exII (RM13xx)

Then sell off ya SB800, get a 55-250mm IS to cover your tele needs.

D90 - Entry Level DSLR
40D / 50D - Intermediate Level DSLR

what u say is absolutely true, but the last sentence like i'm asking between D40 vs 50D..

D90 has very good reviews so far.. even some said the image quality is comparable with 50D and D300.. and both has pros n cons..

and there quite numbers of people like in ebay, mudah try to sell their 50D to buy D90.. and i'm afraid i gonna make a bad decision if i buy the 50D.

yes i know i can test the camera myself at shop, but it only for a while... i'm afraid if there's an issue with the 50D, just like 40D with its white balance.

aha and there's also 2-3 people claiming D90 has issue with skin tone.. anyone can clarify this?

after much research on the internet, i plan to buy Sony A300 body only and couple it with Carl Zeiss 16-80. this is my first camera ever. is this a wise choice? or is there any better alternative for the same cost? thanks for advice.

I personally believe that there is no "better alternatives", there's only "better preferences".
If you personally prefer the A300 over the other cameras, you wouldnt be as happy if you got another camera just because other forumers give you a "better alternative" and you decide to follow it.
So, it's still better to follow your own preference rather than others'

Very sure getting ya 50D? Not 40D with some chunded lenses?

maybe he can get it less than 5K. a300 body only is around 2500, plus CZ1680 around rm2500.

hmm yups. i already got the 50D.. but have to take with kit lens (18-55) since dont have many options here for other lens.. so for the time being will just play with the kit lens.. aha and i also buy 580ex2 and the f1.8 50mm bcoz got it at cheaper price (rm260)..


after CNY will hunt for better lenses ..aiming for L lense..erm i prefer the 17-55 f2.8 and telephoto lense 70-200/300.. depends on budget haha.
