Second hand? Why do you want to get a second hand when you can get a Sony a200 at that price?

You just need to top up RM100 and walla, there you go.

Anyway, if you do have a RM2k budget, you will have more choices, like the 1000D or the D60/D80...
Canon 50D, 40D, Nikon D90, or maybe a D300 whistling.gif

You should test the D90 + 50D out, both are equally good, so it's all up to your personal decisions. Have a look at their official site and specifications if you still can't make a decision.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos50d/

Have a look at the comparison chart.

Good luck finding your camera. =)

thanks!

thx bro  icon_rolleyes.gif

i found tht FE370 is quite cheap n full wif features

comparing wif canon ixus80is and sony W150, wic 1 is better in terms of overall performance?
*
Both can be said to be equally good... =/

Picture quality is good, but one letdown - the W150's charger supposedly charges batteries to full in 4.5 hours shocking.gif

The AF motor in the W150 is slightly better than the IXUS.

Ok, that's all I can get. =/ other than that both cameras are really identical in terms of performance.

thanx bro..so far only survey the Canon EOS 1000D around RM1999 if i'm not mistaken. Will look for the other model you mentioned for comparison. anyway thanx again icon_rolleyes.gif

Ok, sure, no problems wink.gif

With RM4k you could get yourself a few. Mainly:

Canon EOS-40D (used, most probably)
Canon EOS-50D (used)
Canon EOS-450D (new set)
Nikon D90 (new set)

I'm not sure of other brands but these two are quite a good choice.

I think you should Google and read some reviews on these few first. wink.gif

Type of camera/lens/accesories : prosumer
Budget: 1k-2k
Your Location: kl
Preferable brand : -
Type of photography u want to do : scenery
Any specific models in mind? : pana lumix lx3, pana lumix Fz28
Any specific features u want? :

Im really headache on which 1 to choose. Lx3 looks vr promising but the only point concern me is the 2.5x zoom. Pana lumix Fz28 however not so sure on the photo quality but with 18x zoom.

on list:
Pana lumix lx3
Pana lumix Fz28
Olympus SP-565UZ
Canon G10
Canon P6000
Fujifilm FinePix S100fs

really need some suggestion on the prosumer camera.
*
Olympus possesses the longest zoom range, if I'm not wrong. 20x.

You can try to read some reviews about it. Frankly, most of the decision-making counts on the pros and cons of each and every camera.

In my opinion I think the G10 and the P6000 loses out slightly to the Panasonics, while I have no idea about the Fujifilm...

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0807/08072102panasoniclx3.asp

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0807/08072104panasonicfz28.asp

Have a look at both. =) and compare the specs. If you still can't find your choice, then look for pictures taken by the LX3 and the FZ28. That'll enlighten you on how well the camera works in certain environments.

Good luck trying to find a good deal then. =)

If I'm not wrong, you could try to scout deals from Fotokem or any photo shop out there - go in, ask the price, and say 'Ok, thanks, I'll consider the price and if I do want to buy it, I'll come back'.

Pick and shoot? Then it'd be best if you stuck to PnS cameras. doh.gif

Most people keep going for DSLRs thinking 'ooh they can zoom real far' and 'ooh they take super cool pictures, i want one'.

What they don't know is another world exists behind these black boxes.

If you really are into this world... then go ahead, but if you just think like what I've quoted above, you should really stick to PnS cameras. DSLRs aren't like PnS cameras. They're totally different.

Ok, enough lecturing, if you really want one.. then it's your money, your choice, I can't change it.

Anyway, with RM2k, you can get:

Nikon D60
Nikon D80
Canon EOS-1000D
Sony a200
Olympus E-520

It's best if you read the reviews and see which is best for you before considering.

Anyway, if you want a powerful zoom, you will need to get extra lenses. Even the cheapest is RM1xxx. (not including 55-250 IS) So, consider it before even thinking of venturing into the DSLR world. wink.gif

If you really want a DSLR, there're many other choices you have, mainly:

Canon EOS-1000D
Nikon D40
Nikon D60
Nikon D80
Sony a200
Olympus E-520

You might want to read a few reviews and see how things look like to you. Personally I think the 1000D wins in the entry-level category. (because I'm a user of it, of course)

Hi, i have a budget around 700+ i am aiming for olympus as i still hav spare XD cards so i am thinking of getting mju 840 or 1040 but the 1040 does not have any optical image stabilizer. Would it make a lot of difference? Also, the mju 830 is better den the 840 is it? I am actually looking for an all round camera whereby i can take my pics anywhere and i do want the stabilizer to be good...

If brought over from conversion, should be around RM900...

Try scouting every camera shop you see and ask them to quote a price for you, remember it, and go on. Keeping a list would be good.

Later on, when you get home, choose the cheapest and if you still aren't happy, search again. =)

Hi WandererX,

FYI, for new 1, rm2k (neo_01 budget <rm2k) can't get D80 and E-520, barely get D60 (may nd to top up rm100-200).

Edit: E-420 shd be some where 2k if not mistaken. All I mention is NEW... coz i not familiar with 2nd hand price...

Shashinki.com sells it... but it's kinda overpriced... so I'd recommend you to scout around your neighbourhood's photo shops and let them quote a price for you. If you can, bargain in a few freebies to help yourself =)

Oh, thanks for the info - I'm not sure about the Olympus' prices.

Anyway, the 100-200 can usually be bargained off the seller one. brows.gif
