bro... wanna ask wat version firmware can i updated?? mine is phat version.. psp 1000 i think... system software: 3.40 OE-A

my firmware nw is 4.01 m33-2.....how can i update it to latest m33?...after update, can i still play my games?...nid urgent answer..

sifu paiseh to ask again my elder brother is using a Phat psp version 3.40 OE-A what should he upgrade to?some say phat cant work with 5.00m33-6,some say can work but is very lag...is it true?if it is true what CFW that phat psp should upgrade to?and plz leave me a guide to help my bro upgrade the phat psp.i noe how to upgrade psp slim that benwong88 and playboy21 sifu had teach me alr....seems like phat psp has a different version to upgrade the CFW right? please sifu and thanks alot alot

You can update to any higher firmware by using either of the following methods.

1) Upgrade directly to 4.01m33-2 from 3.40oe-a
2) Upgrade to 3.52m33-4, then upgrade to 4.01m33 or any other firmware.

I would recommend the first method.

sifu it says at my brother psp phat that i nid a 3.5 to run 4.01 installer so i cant upgrade to 4.01m33 with a 3.40oe-a,so i went to dark alex find 3.5 cfw but seems got error cant download alr.....sifu do have link to download 3.5 cfw btw i also try download at psphack but there is too many of 3.5 i dunno which link,and also i still dont understand how to install can u brief me little sorry bcoz alot steps nid follow and is not like the 3.52 cfw to 4.01 that u post at psphack.

Follow this guide mate. Use the recovery flasher method.

If you wish to use Dark_AleX's installer, then you would have to upgrade to 3.52m33-4 first. Only then you would be able to run the installer on your psp.

You can either overwrite the entire vsh.txt file (replace it), or you can just add the directory line beneath it. Read the guide carefully, and give it another shot.

My cfw is 5.00M33 must i use 5.00M33 ctf theme...???
or i can use other ctf theme like 4.01M33...???

Just an update, my cousin brought her PSP back to the shop..the dude said it's the memory card that's giving problem. Replaced the memory card under warranty and everything's back to normal..

Im thinking to buy a 2nd hand PSP or maybe a new set..
But im confused as i see alot of version or naming convention...
I saw PSP 2000, PSP Slim, PSP Slim Lite, PSP 2006, etc etc etc...

Can someone explain to me what are the differences?
And also about the "modding"... which is even more confusing..

PSP SLim, PSP Slim and Lite are the same...PSP 2006 etc also Slim version but the serial number is different..for PSP with number 2000 and above are slim version..if series number is 1000 is PSP phat(fat version)..

What firmware are you on, and WHY do you want to downgrade a custom firmware?

You'll need to use a reflasher method in order to downgrade. Hellcat's is the best.
