CIMB is sucks and yes many stores do not accept CIMB for flexi payment but some of them are CIMB merchants. CIMB only allows you to either ask the merchants to do manually which most merchant do not want to do it. Secondly, they will ask u to swipe full amount first (not installment) then make a call to CIMB to apply for flexi payment 10-20 months. Beware, if you do not prepare to pay one time interest of 3-5% which they will charge you for the flexi plan. Stupid right ? then why is it call 0% installment?

I see. sweat.gif
When I bought my laptop I opted for 0% 12-months payment using CIMB cc. And yeah it was hard to find a store that accept CIMB flexi payment.
Anyway from the cc statements that I've received so far I don't see any 3-5% charge. I even asked the seller repeatedly whether it's really 0% interest, and he assured me there's none. Hopefully this surcharge won't suddenly turn up in my future statements. sweat.gif

No. If the seller manage to do the 0% installment on their merchant's machine then it is fine. Some merchant do not want to do manually whereby I found CIMB cc need to be done manually if u wan to do flexi payment. The 3-5% charges will be charged if made a full payment and want to change to flexi payment by calling CIMB personally - which the merchant will advice you to do it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 0% installment means no interest or finance charge on the converted purchase (converted to flexipay, flexipayment et al). The non-flexi purchase got finance and other interest (e.g. 15, 17, or 18%) while Flexipayment stuff is only charge with one time 3, 5 or 6% (upfront fee). The flexipayment is fixed montly installment, there's no interest will occur unless the cardmember failed to pay the flexi monthly installment. Fee for it depends on the bank.

So the advantages of Flexipayment thingy are:
1. One time interest (the upfront fee 3, 5, 6%) as long as the card holder don't fail to pay the Monthly Flexipayment due. This is good because the non-flexi got more interest rate and it keep coming.
2. Choice how many months to pay an item or items
3. Credit limit is not affected. This is true only if the bank will restore the amount converted to Flexipay. I like this advantage a lot because I can get stuff that I want without reducing much my credit limit. I prefer to have my credit limit always ready for not-so-high-purchases e.g. less than RM2K.

Yes, I got charged when I call CIMB and ask for flexi-payment conversion sad.gif

The seller keep insist it's 0% installment, but at last I got charged interest from CIMB and it deduct the total from my CL itself

This means Public Bank credit card and Flexipay is better than CIMB?
With PB... just buy using the credit card (any merchant/shop) then request it converted to Flexipayment after 3 days of purchase.

Hmm my credit limit affected lol. My CIMB CL was RM4000, and I purchased something worth RM2500 then converted to flexi payment. Once I back home Im surprise to see my CL deducted the total. I called CIMB and the operator told me the same sweat.gif

OK but what I mean is the RM4K (less your upfront fee which is 5%) should be restored after few days or the next statement (when the Flexipay Monthly Installment appears in the statement).
At least that is what I know with Public Bank.

Then it is the same practice as CIMB, then the 0% installment has no meaning already.

no matter you are swiping for 0% flexi payment or not the amount of purchase still willd educt from your credit limit. i.e. you have RM4000 CL, you use it to buy a laptop of RM2500 and opt for flexi payment 12 or 24 month, automayically your credit limit will become RM1500. Just the diffrent is the payment you can pay it in months and not next statement.

Citibank opens a temporary counter for rewards redemption in KLCC. (I think today is the first day) Should have some agents promoting cc's as well.

Last time I went there ... they didn't even bother to ask me because I don't look like some potential customer maybe ? Hahahaha

Same here. I purchase DSLR camera and no fee at all. I heard from a friend that he was charged that initial fee so was a bit worried. I was lucky I guess, the merchant was honest.

A note:
0% easy payment scheme is only available if the store has the merchant terminal that is the same as the card one is using for payment.

EG.
If the store have a CIMB merchant and had a tie up with the bank, than when one purchase with CIMB card than it would be possible for 0% EPP.
However, if one uses Citibank or other cards in this purchase; and the only merchant terminal the store had is CIMB, than 0% is not possible.
Thus Flexi pay if the bank allows is the only way to go obviously with % charged.

I come across some outlet who is CIMB merchant, but while using the card to process for the 0% EPP, it declined. The outlet also made a calls to the CIMB's office and was asked to do it manually, which not all outlets is willing to do. Eventually they will ask us, buyer to call CIMB outself whereby the one time interest comes in. My friend who also come across the same problem with his CIMB card, but he is lucky because the merchants press the CIMB officer for explanation and they did something on the system whereby the card was swipe for 0% EPP, the officer will manually 'approved' the current transaction for 0% EPP. I do not know the reason but heard that they did not update the merchant machine because some of them are using Southern Bank and some of the is using Bumiputra Commerce one( Sountern and BBC has merged).

I thought it is normal for the CL to be reduced by the amount that we flexi-purchase?

Which banks offer flexi-purchase that don't affect the CL? Sorry, if this was posted earlier. blush.gif

Guys, it is a general statement that in order for a 0% easy payment scheme, the retailer must have the merchant terminal.
They can't use other merchant terminal which doesn't belong to the same bank.

The CIMB example is just and example. Actual fact in regards to CIMB promotion or whether it used to belong to SBB terminal; that I'm not sure.

Cheers!

If you have the internet banking account, you can change it online.
If not, the simplest method is to pick up the phone and call. Simple....ain't it?! rclxub.gif
