Ok guys, just found out this excellent thread. Version 5 already. Congrats!

My situation is like this. I have a Maybank Visa Classic card which I use for everything and the limit now is RM8k. Currently have TnG Zing and several auto bills link to it.

I also have a CIMB classic card used since year 2000 limit RM10K and they offer me to upgrade to Gold card for limit RM14K a couple of months back. I use this as backup card for travel. Upgrade means I have to cancel the old classic card.

Now the situation is I want to apply Maybank Visa Gold card to same or higher limit as CIMB smile.gif

So what is the procedures? If anyone could give suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Can I keep the old card first, transfer all auto bills to new card and then only cancel.

p.s. Is the Maybank Sonycard any good since I also plan to buy LCD tv in near future.

I just fill in form at the Air Asia website and yesterday someone call me and email me forms. Today someone from Citibank come to pickup my form. If can get same limit as my CIMB card then I would also keep this card for emergencies, else cancel. Also if very very lucky can win that trip to London smile.gif

Anyone using Alliance-IKEA card? This is my situation. There have been 2 times already when they don't send me the bills for a month so the next month when arrived I will be charge a late fee and interest on the auto bills to this card. At least for CIMB they will call me up if they don't receive the payment for that particular month.

It seems that they are doing this sort of money game to get RM28 off me. What lousy tactics. It's not that much but having my card blocked for the autobill really pisses me off. Then AIA will charge some more high interest to my account.

I have been a loyal user and paymaster since the year 2000 and no problems before but this year this thing happen. To be fair the free cofee at IKEA is a nice gesture though. So what you guys think? Cancel or not... hehehe

I think the blame is on Alliance bank. Ikea only provide the promotion...Alliance is supposed to send you the monthly statements rite? Only thing you can do is call them and make a complaint. But annoy them as well by paying on time, with or without the statements. Can you check the amount with ease? like online or nearby ATM?
*
Not really. But now I will make a manual system to track my bills deadline (not wait for bills like last time) and I plan to pay on time every month with or without the statements. Thanks for your suggestion thumbup.gif

FYI last week when I went to Ikea and find out that my card was block, I pay using Maybank CC and collect points to Ikea card. This way I get 2 extra points collection - to Ikea friends and also to Treatpoints. I will try to do this next time also and see if it works and let you guys know about it.

I see.  sweat.gif
When I bought my laptop I opted for 0% 12-months payment using CIMB cc. And yeah it was hard to find a store that accept CIMB flexi payment.
Anyway from the cc statements that I've received so far I don't see any 3-5% charge. I even asked the seller repeatedly whether it's really 0% interest, and he assured me there's none. Hopefully this surcharge won't suddenly turn up in my future statements.  sweat.gif

Same here. I purchase DSLR camera and no fee at all. I heard from a friend that he was charged that initial fee so was a bit worried. I was lucky I guess, the merchant was honest.

i went Carrefour at sri petaling (endah parade) last tuesday 9 December 2008.
i saw Maybank Credit Card booth there, they keep on promoting MBB CC. free gift is a PARKER roller ball stainless steel pen. wow.. quite a nice free gift. since i am interested in MBB petronas card (actually before their promoting, i already decided to apply), so i signed up there. they also promoted AMEX card, i signed up too since free Annual fee 3 years.

When i arrive home, i found out the PARKER stainless steel pen is already yellowish (Ferum stain), and the quality is so bad. And the cap cannot close properly even. WTF.. maybank is giving FAKE ITEM, made in china free gift??
i have their name card, it is AE Direct Sdn. Bhd. is a direct sales agency of Maybank (stated at the name card)

Also, i am actually existing maybank CC user also (just wanted to add a petronas CC only), and i found out that they are misleading people there also..

now maybank is having promotion 10% off Carrefour bill on Tuesday, 5% off normal day. they took this point to promote Maybank CC. they said, we should apply maybank CC and enjoy 10% discount on carrefour bill.
BUT better check carefully the fine words below maybank's promotion : FOR EXISTING MAYBANK CC ONLY!
PROMOTION UNTIL 31 DECEMBER 2008

when i asked them, they said Maybank will continue the promotion after 31 DECEMBER. i dont know how true is this "continue statement" but "FOR EXISTING MAYBANK CC ONLY!" is defintely misleading people there!

i am thinking to file a compaint to maybank.
what you guy think??

I always find that the free gifts are lowsy merchandise. Always go back home and throw away. I don't want to be rude to the agent and not accept or throw it in front of him.

Thanks a lot !

Charging RM2 for auto reload seem to be quite unreasonable. Can I manual reload from my credit card instead of cash ?

I guess I rather stick with normal TnG laugh.gif

For people with good memory ok. But for absent minded people like me. I would rather use the auto reload of Zing TnG. IMHO RM2 charge is ok, to go to a centre to top up also means to spend on fuel, toll and parking which is above RM2 for me.

Last time I had a MBF card but had to cancel it because so hard to pay. I don't like to que at CIMB. But a few months back it seems MBF has started opening their own outlets. This means they are listening to customers and trying to improve their service. Good for them.

The Citibank CC agent @ officer that call me up inform me that Citibank limit is stand alone and not like other banks. He told me that if you have 14k limit for CIMB that means your limit only 7k for Visa and the other 7K is for mastercard. But the funny thing is I had already canceled my Visa with CIMB and the limit is still at 14k. So can somebody explain this to me. I am worried if go for travel overseas and I can't use my card up to the actual limit.

Thanks guys, a lot of good info here. That is why I bookmark also smile.gif

My case is really funny. I applied for Citibank Air Asia and all forms and docs were send out to agent as requested. The agent called back after received everything and offered me to also apply for Citibank Giant card.

Then I got a letter a couple of days back saying my application got rejected because insufficient docs were submitted.

Then the next day the agent call me up saying that only one card can be approved because my CIMB 14k is combined limit. Then why send letter saying rejected. Ah... so funny. So he ask me to choose Air Asia or Giant. I choose Air Asia.

Currently I have a few cards beside CIMB - Alliance Ikea (free coffee and shopping discount), Maybank Classic (online purchase), RHB Travelcard (fuel), UOB Platinum. I am applying to Citibank to see the service and perks of using this card. The problem with so many cards is your wallet gets so bulky. Either your back pocket or your side pocket will have a big lump.

If I leave certain cards home then I will miss on some points opportunity like last weekend where I went to Ikea and forgot to bring the card.

I am wondering how can Citibank send my credit card to a different address since I pass to them my copy of mykad and fill in form properly. Is this intentional or what. They call me to verify the address and it was way... way wrong, not even close to where I am staying. sad.gif

Just receive my Citibank AirAsia over pos laju yesterday.

What is this statement by Citibank AirAsia. I need to charge at least 3 times every 45 days or I will be charged an annual fee. Does it mean I have to charge 3 times to activate the credit card or to maintain the annual waiver? Is this normal?

UOB have to charge 6 times a year is more better than this.

Since we are on the topic of CIMB and CDM. Is it true that CIMB CDMs are offline after 10pm. I always get this errorcode and transaction denied if I want to pay my cc after 10pm.
