guys, i planned to buy an imac or macbook pro within these few weeks from apple store malaysia using student discount price.just got few questions here.
a) is it save to put an adress of a hospital that im working rite now?i had once been conned when i paid for my ipod nano.well, it was 3 years back but the courier service did not take reponsible at all for the lost (...long story short, they actually send me the empty box with no ipod inside). just scared same thing will happen again.
b) im going to use my cimb cc as a mode of payment. so i just need some feedback@advice about monthly payment.is it worth it to pay of at least a minimal amount (..say 500 per month). im just concerned about the interest of the cc.never had i a debt on a credit card before, but rm6k seems like just too big of an ammount if i wanna pay everything @ one shot.sorry tho if i deviate so far away from the main topic of this thread.cc question seems like more of a finance thing than apple. just reckon for some 2cents from anyone of u tho...

Call CIMB once you charged the amount to your card. Bank should be able to convert monthly installments with a certain amount of processing fee.

As for delivery, I would say it is safe to use your place of work as long as you are available there to sign and receive the shipment.

i don't know if mine is an isolated case but my new macbook has just arrived and until now they have not contacted me to verify my educational status. when i spoke to them on the hotline they told me that they will contact me by email and then i will have to send them a copy of my staff card. anyways just enjoying my new laptop now smile.gif

So how is it now? anyone from Apple online contact for the request?

Hi guy/gal,

recently i have purchase 15" MBP from apple online store.

and today i just received a letter stated:-

Dear XXXXXX

This SIRIM label is provided to you with the assurance that the product meets the quality requirements of the specified standard or specification,
and that the product is a genuine Apple product supplied to you directly from the manufacturer.
Please find enclosed the SIRIM label that has been issued for your Apple product(s):
MBP 15.4/2.66/2x2gb/320/SD/512VRAM
please kindly affix the label to your product accordingly.
thank you

-this is auto-generated letter, no signature is required.-

ok my question is:-

1. Does anyone of u who purchase product from apple online store received this sirim label?

2. who actually send this letter to us? coz the letter got no letter-head and no indication of whoever send this letter out.

3. my understanding is, apple product should have let sirim approved and stick d sirim label before sending out to customer? right or wrong?

sticking a SIRIM sticker in our apple product is a big shame
you know, these stupid stickers can just "acquire" from someone in any time

I'm just looking around...
find this topic...
btw, I'm working part-time at Switch The Mines...
honestly, even we also doesn't have stocks to sell a Mac... I also don't why? hmm.gif
Apple has a good product, but long time shipment or no stocks at any Apple Reseller in Malaysia is a problems...
sometimes I don't what to say to my customer.... my boss only taught me to say this word's -> "When the stock arrived, we will call u"
that's it...roughly when the stock arrived, we don't even know.

The systems are like this in Switch...
1 week sales order to HQ in Penang
1 week DO out if they have stock or 2-3 weeks if HQ don't have stock too...
or maybe it will take 1-2 months to confirm the stock arrive at Switch The Mines.

So my advice...

Go to any Apple Reseller around your place first to check if they have stock or not (Mac City, Switch, Machines, CG Studio n etc)... if they have it, buy it! If they don't have and u want it fast buy online. unsure.gif

at the moment, Switch The Mines has stock for 1 unit of iMac 21.5" RM4299, 1 unit each of 15" MacBook Pro 2.53Ghz, 2.66Ghz and 2.8Ghz, and 1 unit of MacBook Pro 17", old 1 unit of Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz (Early 2009) RM2199 (old price RM3199) and 1 unit of MacBook Air RM5599, if u're looking for this unit, do buy it from Switch The Mines thumbup.gif

Ordered an i7/2TB iMac on 4th Jan, at that time the estimated shipment date was 18th Jan... Just got a shipment notification in the e-mail today, iMac is already out of the factory! Expected deilvery date is 15th Jan... about 1 1/2 weeks earlier than initial estimates... I'm excited biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I won't get to use it til the 25th though coz that's when I get back from Melbourne... Fingers crossed hopefully won't receive a lemon with yellow tinged/cracked screen or buzzing hard drive or anything..

So yeah, I'm happy purchasing from the online store. It's great & fast if you know what you want/need. Credit card transaction went fine as well, didn't need to fax any card statements or anything. thumbup.gif

Hey guys,

any idea on the warranty claim for purchases made from Apple Store?

Can we bring in to any Mac retail stores for the claims or have to call Apple hotline?

@dantwt
first step for Apple products is call the AppleCare hotline and see if the problem is software. 1800 803 638.

second step is take it to a Apple Service Partner. Here is the list > Apple Service Partners in Malaysia

reminder : Drop Points will not do the repair at the same office, they will usually forward to a service center somewhere else.
for machines, its machines HQ @ NorthPoint, beside MidValley.
for EpiCentre, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't send my Mac to a Apple Premium Reseller that doesn't do in-house repairs. hmm.gif

Thanks for the info.

Since im in penang, only CG Computers can do servicing.

If dats the case, i guess buying from Apple store online (education store) won't be much of a hassle (with some cash savings!!!) since future support is available in my nearby area.

@damaginglife
contact the Store Hotline ( 1800 80 6419 ) and ask them the online store questions...

buying online is definitely secure, cos you have to authorise the payment anyway.
