Hey guys,

any idea on the warranty claim for purchases made from Apple Store?

Can we bring in to any Mac retail stores for the claims or have to call Apple hotline?

Thanks for the info.

Since im in penang, only CG Computers can do servicing.

If dats the case, i guess buying from Apple store online (education store) won't be much of a hassle (with some cash savings!!!) since future support is available in my nearby area.

Getting a Mac Mini (Late 2009) RM2199 via online store.

Worth taking up the iWork for additional RM169?
Keyboard and Mouse: get from apple or go for 3rd party?

Planning to hook this up to a 32" LCD TV.

keyboard is mouse, you can go for Logitech S530
quite neat for mac mini

Not bad. Looks huge though.
Not sure if its suitable for my HTPC setup.

i'd go for the apple keyboard, i think it's very nice smile.gif definitely third party mouse for me, maybe white logitech v470 to match the keyboard

have u used iWork before? can always use trial version 1st: http://www.apple.com/iwork/download-trial/

if this is going to be ur 1st mac, probably better skip the 169 iWork 1st. then u play with the trial, n buy when u decide u like it. 199, only rm30 more expensive. better rugi rm30 than paying rm169 for something u wont use later hehe

OR get the iWork, use it, n sell off when u decide u dont like it

that being said, i really love Keynote, n other iWork apps are wonderful. but i have to stick with MS Office for compatibility reasons~

Yea.. don't tink i'll get the iWork since this mac is mainly for HTPC use.

Apple keyboard = RM229 from Apple Online Store. Hmm.. A lil' pricey, dont u tink?

Looks like i'll be getting just the Mac Mini without other Accessories from Apple Store.

Price of keyboard and mouse from Apple no discount for Education Store! sad.gif

Also, anyone knows where i can get the Mini-Displayport- or Mini-DVI-to- HDMI cable? I know Monoprice.com have 'em, but prefer to buy them locally if possible. My location : Penang.

Thanks all !

Yea, me thinks its auto enroll.

Wouldn't mind helping u to get it since im not taking up the ACPP. Jus bare Mac Mini.

Also, i tink monoprice MiniDP to HDMI will do since im hooking the audio to my S330 via 3.5mm cable. Not using the LCD TV speakers. No need for additional audio conn.

Dinovo mini is crazyly priced! sweat.gif think the Apple wireless keyboard + cordless mouse combo works for me.. smile.gif

Last ques: why MiniDP to HDMI and NOT MiniDVI to HDMI?

Added on January 15, 2010, 11:39 amOMG.. Shipping charges from Monoprice.com is so expensive! USD31 for a USD9 item..!!

damn...

oh if u're hooking to another speaker then juz use normal connection lah smile.gif hehe i recommended the dinovo mini bcuz u said u want HTPC hehe more suitable what

good question. i forgot the mac mini got miniDVI. if u can find a miniDVI-to-HDMI connector locally, that would be great. if still have to order online, better get miniDP since more devices will support it. also u can get miniDVI-to-DVI then DVI-to-HDMI. not sure how much, but can buy locally lah

yeap the shipping charge is already expensive tongue.gif i bought it because i have no idea what to do with my tv after i canceled Astro haha. imagine if u got the more expensive adapter haha
ohhh i didnt realize u mentioned mobileme in the 2nd post. sorry! tongue.gif

the MiniDVI to DVI then DVI to HDMI route is definately cheaper since the Mac comes with MiniDVI to DVI while the DVI to HDMI cable can be purchased outright from many stores. But question is, would it be a drop in PQ due to its 2x interconnection?
