But if i set it to Digital, sure it can't play Stereo Sound. podrunner might be trying to play files with Dolby Digital audio. If he set to Stereo, he will not get the audio via the optical. He'll only get if he connect the composite red/white to the input red/white on his Bose. Set to Digital in WDTV and he'll get full Dolby Digital 5.1 sound out from optical into his Bose optical, while at the same time the stereo sound is disabled. |

QUOTE(Exarkun @ May 25 2009, 10:03 AM) For DTS, it goes out the optical out because the WDTV has no way of decoding DTS. So it HAS to send it out via optical, regardless whether you set the WDTV to Stereo or Digital. But other digital format (Dolby Digital...etc) that is able to be decoded will come out as stereo. Yes, I set the audio output in WDTV to "Digital", everything working as it should. Thanks!podrunner might be trying to play files with Dolby Digital audio. Do you guys use 3.5" 1TB external hard disk to store all your collection? Do you recommend to buy 2 500GB hard disk to plug in instead so that not all your movies will be gone if one of them crash? Back-up the big data is a hassle here.

What I do is I share my collection with my friends. So if anything goes wrong with my HDD, I got my friend's HDD as backup. |

QUOTE(zerorulez @ May 26 2009, 12:39 AM) How much is the Vantec HDD Doc? how many bays support there are many models available here http://www.vantecusa.com/front/product/pro_list/70my 1TB already max out... The one I am using is http://www.vantecusa.com/front/product/view_detail/295 in black colors to match my WDTV bought it in SG, converted to about RM 170. The reason I use this is because, if I need to transfer huge data files, I can always use the eSATA to my PC, USB2 is way too slow to transfer terrabytes. I can use the regular external HDD, but I have no patient in waiting for data transfer the HDD Dock max out at 65MBps for eSATA on my PC, while the same dock only do 15-20MBps for USB2, my other USB2 HDD also around 15-20MBps. I am thinking to buy 2 more docks, so I have all together 3, for my WDTV, Main PC and office use. Then I just need to swap my hdd without taking off the whole dock in future. Thanx is it available at LYP? QUOTE(hhtoh88 @ May 26 2009, 12:45 AM) A maxtor 1TB external HDD is now cheaper than a 1TB WD internal HDD. Might be better off then internal HDD with docking station. really bro, which model? |
