Tried the previous faulty 1080p Dark knight, now working super fine.

But now new mkv Eagle eye 1080p pixelating. So not 100% solved.

Convert to .m2ts. It will mostly solve the pixel problems for 1080p thumbup.gif

Anyone got larger hardisk, please download again the firmware. Latest is 1.01.02

QUOTE
Version 1.01.02:
Resolved Issues:

Resolved the issue surrounding updating the firmware from a large (500GB or larger) drive, previously the WDTV™ would not recognize the updated firmware on a large drive
Known Issues:

When image is rotated 90 degrees there is some elongation in the rotated view

If the user unsafely removes an HFS+ formatted drive from the media player without using the Eject button, the drive will become read only media

Its the same link as where you download 1.01.01 version.

But they just change the file to 1.01.02. Its a small update mainly for large hardisk user.

i don't know whether mod will allow this .. but here goes..

The.Bourne.Identity.2002.1080p.HDDVD.x264-BLiND  AUDiO..............: English, AC3 5.1, will play stereo on rca jack

Goodfellas.1990.BluRay.1080p.AC3.x264.dxva-EuReKA  Audio Codec.........: AC3 will play stereo on rca jack

The.Hunt.For.Red.October.1990.1080p.HDDVD.DTS.x264-CtrlHD  Audio: English DTS 5.1 - 1536 KB/s  No sound

The.Dark.Knight.2008.BluRay.1080p.DTS.dxva-EuReKA  Audio Codec.........: DTS  no sound

Queen.Rock.Montreal.1080p.BluRay.x264-TRiM
AUDiO..........: English 2.0, FLAC from 24 bits 48khz PCM      No sound (not even sure whether optical will play this)
English 5.1, 1536 kbit/s DTS core from 24 bits 96khz DTS HD    No sound
English 2.0, 128 kbit/s AC3 commentary with Brian May and Roger Taylor  Will play stereo on rca jack

for queen u can actually click on the audio to choose which audio u want...

so when u go downloading u see dts as codec .. u know cannot play unless u have optical out with dts amp.. others should be able (this same goes for the hdx1000 and popcorn)

but again dvico 6500a . semua boleh step down to stereo...normal rca jack... drool.gif
*
That why, in avsforum there is a thread where they request WD to include function step down to stereo in next firmware update.

Guys, found out in the avforum, the limitation of WDTV is ability to playback high ReFrame rate. Anything more than 6 RFs, it will caused pixelated. Maybe the safest is to download 720p MKV unless newer firmware is able to address this problem!!!!

This is seriously the limitation of the WDTV media player.
P/s read:-
Reference Frames:

Description: Selects the maximum number of reference frames that can be used. Referenced frames are frames that refer to other frames (eg. if both frames are similar). Having a high referenced frame will improve quality but slow up encoding. For typical content, a reference frame of 3 to 5 is recommended. For content with a lot of repetition (eg. animation), a reference frame of 8 to 10 can be used. If a large number of reference frames is selected, then the "Mixed References" options should also be selected to allow x264 greater control (see "Analysis Options" section).

this might be why some of those who were into anime might not like this box as much as others. Seems like anything with a higher than usual number of reference frames, and this thing has a hard time processing.

In AVForum, there is already many forumers stated. For this price, of course there is some limitation. Spend some time to convert your movie, then voila you could play these movies.

If you still not convinced, get the above 1k media player (Dvico drool.gif ) or maybe build a HTPC. Nice idea? thumbup.gif

BUT the real problem is only after we download we will be able to know the ReFrames rate. We cant use MediaInfo before finish downloading the whole file! How I wish the uploaders can provide this video info.

It is best to avoid 1920x1080p animations. 1920x800p should have no problem if you wanna download 1080p movies.
*
You can check ReFrames rate from NFO. Well known bluray ripper surely have mentioned it on NFO. Just download the NFO and read it.

Sure can...you can have as many subs as you wish and you can turn them off too!

Added on May 13, 2009, 2:25 pm

I think you don't have to download the all the parts...just download 1 parts and unrar it but you need to sellected the optiion in winrar that to allow it to unrar partial files.  Then you can try out the files to see it plays or not and at the same time check the quality.

There is some private tracker that allow user to view NFO. rclxms.gif

i was wondering bout e-sata transfer rate for a while, was guessing it can go up to 70 Mbytes/s till i read ur post..just a little shy of the actual performance...  all my Ext. Buffalos can max 30MB/s only on USB2, still quite fast for me...

this vantech kinda interesting product.. too bad it can hold only 1 HDD at a time.. the problem is that u need a proper storage to keep ur xtra HDDs if u only have 1 dock... but still one to be considered.

Thanx

is it available at LYP?
really bro, which model?
*
The Vantec got another version which support dual Hardisk. Get it.

Recently they are so many media player on the market with the China entrant. Is this WD still the best value for money ?
*
At this moment, yes. Because a lot of the China media player that my brought, the PQ worse than WDTV HD.

But we must monitor other media player that launch by some big company like Asus. Hopefully there will be a good media player that sell below RM 1k. rclxms.gif

Dvico is too expensive. doh.gif
